SISKA 5 years 115 lbs Female Seal/White |
Siska's owner moved abroad (for good) and left Siska with an acquaintance. They have realized that they do not have the time for a large active dog and want to find her a home. Siska is a great dog with a ton of personality. She is very vocal (not barky) and will talk to you with lots of woos. She is housetrained. Seems a bit TOO interested in cats and has not yet been tested with other dogs. She does not show aggression towards them, however. I was able to take a rawhide out of her mouth with no resistance. She has been well loved and cared for all her life and will transition easily into someone's home. |  |

This is Nakita. Miss Nakita is a
gorgeous 3 year old who has a very striking mask. She is Black/White, and
weighs approx 100 pounds. Nakita is a very dominant female and would do
best in a home with no kids, or other dogs. She is good on leash, and is
very willing to please -- for treats of course.

Cheyenne
is described as "a very good dog". Her owner had to move and was
not allowed to have her in her new home. Cheyenne is being fostered
in eastern Washington.

Housebroken & good with kids, cats and
other dogs. Not to be chained--fenced yard only (this is true of all the
dogs here!) Loves the attention of all! Laid back and has a great
temperament. The owners are moving and he will have to go out of town to
stay with family but they can keep him for only a short time also.
Keeno is so good, say the owners, he deserves an equally good home.
Keeno is in Idaho.

These babies
had to be turned over to rescue as the momma dog could no longer care for
them (milk infection) and the owner's work schedule did not allow for her
to care for them during the day. This was a
rainbow litter as far as color! You don't often see red/white and all
white!! These three are: red/white, black/white and black/white with
silver tipping. Puppies
were born April 29th so they are ready for "visitors" in a
couple weeks and adoption around the end of June. Get your reservation in
now! Home visits will be conducted on all applicants. A fenced yard is a
must!!

Tala's family finds their life a bit of a whirl-wind at the moment and they are now faced with moving to a home that is not suitable for Tala. Tala is described as a "great dog with lots of love". She has lived with a cat since she was a puppy and she has been well socialized with other dogs. She knows basic obedience commands and she has been spayed. She rides well in the car and makes a wonderful "best friend"! A fenced yard is a must. |  |

This young guy was picked up as a stray by the local shelter. He is thought to be around 5 months old. He knows basic obedience, walks well on leash and rides without a problem in the car. He was a perfect gentleman for his bath and blow dry!! He is sweet, cuddly and affectionate. His shots are current, he has been neutered and he has been microchipped. He will have a longer coat than the typical Malamute, so the family adopting him will need to be prepared to spend time keeping his coat combed out. This boy is sure to be a beauty when he grows up! A fenced yard is a must. He is living with a foster family in Seattle. Adopted by foster! |  |

Reilly is a gorgeous Black/White male with lovely markings. He is only a year old, so is still VERY much a puppy. RUDY 5 years 150 lbs Male Red/White |
Rudy has not had
an easy life so far. In his short life he has already had four homes.
Definitely not due to anything he did wrong - just had the misfortune of
ending up with people who saw him as "disposable". Rudy's caretaker describes him as a "gentle giant". He
has
green/gold eyes! She says he
is so very sweet and just wants to be loved. He is currently sharing an
apartment with his caretaker and her young dog. He has met other dogs and
seems to do well with them - any size or sex. He has also done well with
cats! His caretaker has witnessed him playing gently with a kitten in his
previous home!! He loves people. Did very well when supervised with a 2 yr
old child. Rudy knows basic obedience commands. He is housetrained.

Otter is a very friendly and playful pup. He's gentle and playful with kids. He's interested in cats - barks at them - but hasn't yet been formally introduced. No such thing as a stranger to Otter, he's not afraid of anyone. He is super sweet. He's not yet leash trained but he is housetrained. Picture coming soon. moving soon and they have had a change in lifestyle which does not allow
them to spend as much time with Nakita as they wish. Nakita's owners
describe her as a very loving and social girl. She has been raised with
other dogs, cats and young children. She knows basic obedience commands,
loves to go for car rides and loves attention! Nakita is AKC registered
and her breeder would like to establish contact with her new owner to
provide any assistance necessary throughout the remainder of Nakita's

Cody's family is moving and they cannot
take him with them. He has been a wonderful family dog and they want to
see him go into a wonderful home where he will be well loved. Cody gets
along well with older children. He knows basic commands, but does pull a
little on leash. He is house trained. Cody would prefer to be an only dog,
but he might take to a female willing to let him be the boss! Cody is

go to their new assisted-living home even though I took good care of them.
They took care of me too - a little too well (I love Vita Bones, cheese,
licorice, and dried spinach pasta!) so I need to lose some weight. I
adore people, and really want to have an inside home like I had. Shadow is
leash trained; her baby is pieces of cut up jeans, which she carries
around. She loves to carry on a conversation with people.

Enuchan's
owners must leave the state and they are unable to take her with them.
Enuchan loves people (including children) and attention-no one is a
"stranger" to her! Enuchan knows basic obedience commands, is
good in the house and in the yard. She loves to go for walks! Enuchan will
chase cats and other small animals, but appears to do well with other dogs
as long as they understand she is the boss! Enuchan is spayed and her
shots are current. As with any good Malamute, a fenced yard is a must!
Enuchan currently lives in Edmonds - near Seattle.

the worst possible time of her life, Nanushka finds herself without a
home. At a time when she should be laying back dozing in the sun dreaming
of chasing something small and furry, she finds herself faced with
uncertainty and stress. Nanushka appears to be a healthy girl who just
needs a place to lay her head while she enjoys her "senior"
years. Don't let Nanushka's age fool you though, Malamutes are known to be
able to kick up their heels quite well at even 12 and 13 years of age!
Nanushka does need to be an only dog.

was pulled from the Olympia shelter. She was picked up as a stray. Sunny
is a young adult, red/white, sweety-pie girl! Volunteer Diana took care of
getting this girl all nice and clean and ready for her spaying and she
took care of transporting her. Sunny has been introduced to young and
adult dogs, both boys and girls and seems to do very well with them.
Unknown with cats or small children. We are working on a foster home for
Sunny.

Isis
is a very well mannered, gentle affectionate girl. She is good around
small children and even left the chickens and neighbor's cat alone once
she got over her initial "interest"! Isis responds very well to
basic commands, she knows sit, lay, stay and come. She walks well on
leash. She is very sensitive and smart so doesn't need a lot of
correction. Isis rides well in the car and has responded well to crate
training. Isis prefers to spend most of her time outside. She is not
noisy, but will "talk" to you. Isis is very eager to please and
loves people. Don't let her age fool you, Isis still has many, many years
of wonderful companionship to give. She is spayed and her shots are
current. A fenced yard is a must!

Lucky has been
traumatized by the events in his life the past few weeks but he's coming out of his shell. He
is SO loving, gentle and sweet; he loves attention. At this point he
is a sensitive, tender and needy young dog. Lucky may need other
dogs around him for a bit, as he has in his foster home, to learn once
again how to be a dog. In his forever home, however, he'll even more
need to be part of his people family. Lucky has been shaved. When
his coat returns and he gains some needed weight, he may be quite a
beautiful boy.

At her foster home, she doesn't run away when loose but we would never recommend that unless you too have 25 other dogs around to make life interesting for her. Lulfta was surrendered by a woman dying of cancer. She moved here from Texas to deliver her children to family and spend her last few months in the Northwest. Lulfta is 7 yrs old and has obviously been very loved in her life. She was undoubtedly this woman's close companion. She has impeccable house manners and is very affectionate, doesn't bark, dig or have any bad behaviors. She can be "food protective" toward other dogs, and definitely enjoys the company of humans more than dogs. 6/1/2003: Rest In Peace Keisha, read about Keisha's special story here. Keisha is a Colorado dog whose owners were relocated and couldn't find "dog friendly" housing when they arrived. She has been shaved but is still a large, fluffy bundle of love! Keisha takes treats extremely gently! and is very easy to be with. She follows basic commands, wants to please and be petted and be part of a family again! Keisha is good with all people, including children. She is very good with other dogs. Keisha has the experience to know how she is supposed to act; she is energetic, strong and loves to walk. |

ending. - Max (Was Farley) sends us an update from his new forever home, where he lives with his loving family
and his favority toy, his stuffed bear. Farley needs some TLC. He was found with several shattered teeth that we had removed so now he can eat and become the big healthy boy he should be. Farley is very good with other dogs and is a typical friendly malamute towards people. He is unknown with cats. This is a very nice dog who deserves a second chance at a decent life.

Kidu's owners find
her temperament, attitude, loyalty and spirit most appealing. She
has had obedience training, is good with cats and strangers and does not
have any destructive habits. She is, however, aggressive towards
other dogs that come into her space; fine in public on leash. Kidu
doesn't like being left alone; she is good in the car and excellent
walking on lead. Kidu is currently taking medication; more information is

Charlie's
family has become very busy and they no longer have the time to spend with
Charlie that they feel he deserves. Charlie has been an outside dog and he
has kept his yard immaculate! No digging. Just happy to let things grow
and be a part of it all. He also behaves well in the house. Charlie walks
well on leash and does not seem to mind bigger dogs. Little dogs that yip
might be a bit more than he can ignore though! Unknown with cats. Charlie
knows some basic commands and likes to "talk" when spoken to.
Charlie does have some skin problems probably due to allergies, but with
regular care, including good food, exercise, brushing and maintenance
medication he has a long and happy life ahead of him! Charlie is neutered

from malnourishment, possible rickets!, and skin problems due to severe neglect. And what a trooper she's
proven to be!
Kona is an old, old lady, and is at her permanent foster home where she can experience love, no stress, good care, canine and human companionship for as long as she has on this earth. Kona and others like her are taken in by WAMAL and cared for in loving foster homes when we have them - or boarding kennels if we have no foster homes. SPECIAL STORY! Date: Fri, 7 Nov 2003 From: Marsha Subject: KONA I'm sad to say that Kona was put to sleep today. Her legs finally gave out and she couldn't stand anymore. Yesterday she enjoyed her last beautiful fall day and I was able to stay home with her. She always liked to walk to the apple tree down by the barn, yesterday I went to get her a apple because she couldn't walk anymore and all of the apples were gone except one perfect beautiful red apple sitting at the base of the tree as if it were waiting for her. I brought it to her and I swear to you she smiled and enjoyed every last bite as I laid next to her she reached over and gave me a kiss. I want to thank each of you that had a part in bringing Kona to us. We loved her so very much and the last year of her sweet life was filled with so much love. We miss our girl tonight. MARSHA Sleep well now girl, we'll see you on the other side of the rainbow bridge one day!

vaccinated, micro-chipped female Alaskan Malamute (mix) named Amanda. We really
like her, she's playful, spunky, sweet, good with children, other dogs
and.....going kennel crazy. When people take her outside, she pulls them
on leash, jumps up to great them and is so darn happy. Many people find
this behavior overwhelming; Amanda just needs a home.

Puppy/Youth Male 105 lbs Gray/White |
Jake is described as a happy fun loving boy! At 11
months old he knows sit, lay, easy and is halti trained. He is friendly
with other dogs. He chases cats. He is excitable around young children
(not uncommon given his age) so would need to be supervised around them.
He is housetrained and does not challenge a fence. At 11 months old, Jake
is already 105lbs. His parents were said to be 180lbs. AKC papers are
available. Jake will need to be neutered prior to placement and he has
been started on his puppy shots. Jake is a gray/white |

Niko is a beautiful dog who has led a sheltered life. He needs a forever home who will give him the attention he deserves and continue to expose him to the world outside the fence. He is good with kids and used to live with a Samoyed female. He enjoys new things - once he learns that they can be fun! |  |

Smokey is gentle,
fantastic dogs who loves people and children. He is housebroken and
current with shots. He likes to be boss with other dogs at first;
but once he knows them he is mellow and loves to play. He really
loves to walk; hold onto him in the passing lane! Smokey chases cats
and probably should not be placed in a household with a cat. Because
he's a big guy, Smokey's owners are hoping to find a home for him with

DENALI Youth/Puppy Male 70 lbs Sable/White |
Report from Denali's foster home: Denali is good with dogs, good with kids, not sure about cats yet (he did not seem interested in the cats at the shelter that were up front with us). He is all current on shots, including rabies. He is neutered now! He is microchipped also. The vet and his wife would love to take him also - they loved him immediately and they want to know where he goes!!!! That gave me good feelings! I also have taken Denali to the yard from the kennel off leash and he stays pretty close so far. He also stays in the 5 foot fence in my yard - is asleep on the deck with Sasha our 12 year old malamute. Nikooshka, our 9 year old, puts up with this bouncy boy also! He is pretty happy and listens - selectively of course. Denali is in Idaho |  |

Joy is a
SWEETHEART. When she was rescued from the shelter she let us look at
her teeth, pick her up and put her in the crate in the car, and when she
was finally relaxing, she put her head on our shoulder, to be loved and
kissed. She's in a wonderful but very temporary foster home.

HOLLY is an
extremely lovable 3 month
old puppy. These days she must have company - dog or human - or she
will tell you quite clearly that she is not happy and she will escape.
Holly is already housebroken; she is extremely easy to train. She will be
a wonderful house dog and companion.

KENZIE Adult Female 65 lbs Gray/White |
Kenzie is a
beautiful and loving dog whose owner says her biggest fault is
"None!". Her owner's failing health means we need a new
home for Kenzie. She has no destructive habits, loves people,
petting and walks! Like many mals - no cats - and she doesn't like
all other dogs either. She is very affectionate and has no problem
with children but is too strong to play with a very small child.

Bobsled Bobby, the Winter King~. Bobsled
looks like snowy winter with his bright face. His exquisitely plush
velvet coat, silver gray with subtle red tips, feels like ermine.
The kennel staff kennel where he's boarded have transformed Bobsled into a
wonderful dog! He loves to give kisses and melts into your arms when
he's petted. He looks up as if to say "just tell me what we're going
to do today. Anything will be great!" He walks
beautifully on leash, pays attention and only pulls if a cat walks
by. He's curious about everything; loves to stick his head out
the car window and smell the world. Bobsled is sweet, loving,
not too large .. a wonderful northern dog! |

Sassy
is great with children and other animals including her cat. She has had
some obedience training. Her owner does not wish to part with her but was
told by her Dr she must because of asthma. She is current on shots and
owner will donate a chain link kennel to go with her.

Kenai's owners are
relocating to England. They would like to find Kenai an active fun loving
family. He has had obedience training and knowns sit, stay, down, come and
some hand signals. He walks well on leash. Kenai is curious and playful
when he meets other dogs. Unknown with cats. He loves to ride in the car.
No problems with children. Kenai's situation is urgent as his owners will
be moving in January. He is currently living in Federal Way. Kenai is a
beautiful black/white around 2 yrs old. Picture coming soon.

is a lovely gray /white boy. He is a love with children, and other dogs,
but CAN'T be in a home with Cats, or livestock. He must have a SECURE fenced
in area, so he cannot get out and chase.
