BLUE
Age: Young Adult
Weight: 100+ Lbs
Gender: Male
Color: Gray/White
ID: W93-1002-AM3-0103

Blue has a heart as big as he is! A true-blue, gentle giant. Fresh out of the shelter, he endured a 6 hour drive, stayed for the weekend with nearly 2 dozen other snow dogs and traveled with his new foster parents to a weight pull! He did great! He's great with dogs, other people and his foster's young son. He doesn't like crates but is fine in his kennel or a yard and loves to ride in a car. He's unknown with cats. He's not possessive or dominant with people or dogs even about food. Just a true gentle giant. Blue's foster parents have taught him to pull - sledding, weight, skijorring!!!

RAVEN
Age: Young Adult
Weight: 110 Lbs
Gender: Male
Color: Black/White
ID: S12-0102-AM2-0203

Raven is an energetic happy-go-lucky boy just waiting for a new mom and/or dad to take him home!! Raven is housebroken and knows how to sit on command. He is good alone in the yard and in the house. He "wants to go" when walking on a leash.

Raven's fur is as black, glossy and silky as the birds he's named for. Raven loves dog bones and big, happy girlfriends and he's great with everyone he meets when he's out walking with his foster parent in Seattle. Since Raven grew up with another dog, we know he gets along very well with female dogs of his size (plus he loves his foster sister, Trixie). He is a loving boy with lots of energy and will make a wonderful companion. A fenced yard is a must as he'll chase cats, small dogs and farm animals! Raven is fostered in the Greater Seattle Area.

NANOOK
Age: Young Adult
Weight: 95 Lbs
Gender: Male
Color: Black/White

mal mix
ID: WO106-1102-AM3-0103

A malamute named Nanook (he is a siberian mix small amount) has lived in Yakima with his golden retriever friends & Mom. He is about > 95lbs. His family situation changed and Nanook cannot go with. He is 3 and needs more attention than Mom can give. Someone is watching him at his old house now until we can find him a home. Nanook has room to run but no one to play with. He was rescued from an abusive home. Mom thought he would have a happy forever life with her but things have changed. More about Nanook: "He is house trained and knows how to sit, speak, laydown, shake, and stay on voice and hand commands. Once comfortable at someone's house he just lays down and loves to be with people. He has not shown any aggression toward any dogs but has not really been around cats only at the vets and he just kinda whines when he sees them not knowing what to do. He will also give kisses if you ask him to. He is a great loving dog.". Nanook is located in the Greater Yakima Area.

Gender: Female
Color: Black/White
ID: O3-0103-AF1-0103

My name is Lola. I'm under 1 year old, the vet thinks I'm about 8 months old. I have all my shots and am spayed. I am well mannered and very energetic. I would love to have a family of my own again! (Lola is almost fully leash trained and has already learned to sit on command (in just 2 days!). She would do very well in an obedience class where the whole family could learn how to teach her new things. Lola has that malamute look about her - regal one moment and a clown the next (see her other pictures below). What a breed! Lola is being fostered in NE Washington.

SHYLA
Age: Young Adult
Weight: 65 Lbs
Gender: Female
Color: Black/White
ID: W01-0103-AF3-0203

Shyla is 3 1/2 years old and a very special girl. She is spayed, great with kids, good with cats (she'll give them a chase, but all in good fun -- she lives with two right now). Does need medication for seizures and low thyroid. Good on leash. (I use a Gentle Leader.) No escapes, ever. (Amazing, actually). Side fences - 8+ ft wood and back fence is a relatively short picket fence with chicken wire across it (she could easily go through the slats otherwise). I haven't trained her for off-leash work yet, but she does know how to heel, sit, down, stay, etc. (Her heeling involves a bit of pulling until she tires out a bit.) Crate trained (goes in willingly!) Incredibly happy girl -- full of love and doggie kisses! Would love a new home with other doggies and/or kids that love to play. Shyla is with her owners in the Greater Portland, OR Area.

Gender: Female

Nikki will be a wonderful family dog for some lucky new family. Yours?

In the inset picture, she plays tug-of-war with .... yes!.. that is a real dog she is playing with! She was raised with this tiny one and is terrific with all the dogs at her foster home. Nikki is spayed with all shots. She is less than a year old and is far too agile for a short fence although she has never run far. However, as is typical for northern dogs, a secure fence is a must. Nikki is being fostered in Dayton, WA.

Kayla is a very sweet girl. At first she seems shy. With a little patience she will wag her tail, which wags her whole body and she will give you the biggest smile. She has had a difficult life but it has not taken away her puppy spirit. She is spayed, housebroken, and current on her shots. She needs a secure fence or kennel. URGENT Assistance Needed!!!

The second is Slugger. Slugger is listed as a Husky/Lab Mix but the gal I spoke with says he's awfully big so she's thinking possibly a Mal/Lab Mix. He is 5yrs old and also neutered and has been boostered the same as Yukon. This boy ended up at the shelter as the city in which his family lived in tagged their home as being unfit to live in.

She was unknown with cats and was reported to us to be too big for very small children. She had just not been around them. She was good with male dogs.

Katanni is a beautiful girl who loves and is very respectful of people and is even good with livestock. She thinks, however, as is typical of many female malamutes, she should be the boss in the dog pack, so she would be best as an only dog or with a male companion who is not dominant and does not care to be the "leader". She would make a great family member for those experienced with malamute behavior. She prefers to be part of the action and is not a good candidate for spending a lot of time alone in a kennel run. She will be a wonderful and very beautiful pet for the experienced malamute home. Katanni is being fostered in Bend, OR

Juneau is a great dog. Her family just does not have the time for her that she deserves and they want to find a home which will give her more attention. She is an outdoor dog but has had no accidents in the house so could easily become a house pet. She graduated 1st place in her obedience class. She is a little overwhelming with very young kids since she is just still a puppy but good with older kids 12 and above. She is very bright and loves to learn. She would make a great partner. Juneau is residing with her owners in Renton.

KODIAK

Weight: 140 Lbs
Gender: Male
Color: Black/White
ID: WO100-1102-AM4-0503

Kodiak is a special boy; a very loving and affectionate dog whose family wants a better situation for him. Kodi loves to play. His best friend is his "sister" a female boxer about the same age and get along great. She is the boss even though he outweighs her by 80 pounds or so. I am sure they will miss each other when they aren't together. Kodi seems to get along with most dogs. We do walk them and he doesn't show aggression toward other dogs. He is just interested in being friendly. He also gets along well with the neighbor dogs. He is tolerant of cats and grew up with one. He will chase them but has never shown a propensity to hurt them. Kodi is hesitant around small children. He shies away from them and does not like to be laid on or pushed around very much. He has not been exposed to kids very much but should be fine with older kids. Kodiak is with his owner in the Greater Portland, OR area.

SHASTA
Age: Young Adult
Weight: 100 Lbs
Gender: Female
Color: Gray/White
ID: WO101-1102-AF4-0503

Shasta & her "sister" Sheena take sibling rivalry too seriously. Since Sheena is more closely bonded with Dad, Shasta needs to find a new home. Shasta is the shyer of the two; both have some experience with other dogs at weight pulls but they're a bit overwhelmed. Shasta seems afraid and might not be a good candidate for homes with dogs. Shasta love older kids particularly to steal food with bananas a favorite and plays catch! And the girls have been raised with 2 cats, one even boxes with them!

SHASTA: Has experience with weight pulling and pulling kids on roller blades and sleds. Might acclimate with another dog in home, doesn't seem to be aggressive when meeting another dog as long as it doesn't act first. She loves her squeaky toys. Very verbal, growls when being loved which is a bit unique. Very willing, a bit timid, should do well in a new home. Shasta sits, shakes, lays and was 4 on Dec. 24, 2002. Used to being indoors as well as out and would need to continue this as is quite noisy if left out. Ideal situation for this dog is a lot of attention, someone who can be with her most of the time. Shasta is with her owner in the greater Yakima area.

Shasta in dappled sunlight! Isn't she gorgeous! Shasta's also a sweet girl who just loves to play. As Shasta is very "people" oriented, she would be best suited in a home without other dogs or cats. Otherwise, Shasta is an easy keeper. Travels well in a car or truck, enjoys baths, is house trained but also content sleeping outdoors overnight. She is not prone to excessive barking or howling and hasn't done any digging. Shasta would make a wonderful companion dog for someone who enjoys spending time with a "devoted best friend". Read about Sponsorship here.

Kodi was a very large, light sable and white male whose owners had to leave and decided to leave him behind. He was big and powerful boy but very loving. He prefered to reign alone, with no other pets. He could not be placed with cats and was really too large for small children. Kodi was a big goofy boy who loved to "talk" to anyone who would stop to chat! He loved attention, took treats gently from his patient evaluator and would have loved his new owner forever. He was up to date with routine shots, house trained and altered. Kodi's only fault was that he was aggressive towards other dogs and animals so would have had to have been be kept on leash or fenced at all times. Kodi was being fostered in the Maple Valley Area.

Kodi was VERY loved by his volunteer visitors and many who had met him. He is already missed very greatly. Goodbye sweet boy, were so sorry we were unable to rescue you!

ID: WO13-0303-AF3-0503

Stella is an athletic, exuberant, smart and loving girl. She is house trained and lives with cats. She would probably be OK with other dog-savvy cats, but, as with any malamute, should be closely supervised. She and her owner's fiancee's female dog do not get along and now that marriage is near, the animosity has escalated, and so they need to find a new home for Stella. She does well with a larger male dog companion, but no female dogs or smaller dogs (she thinks she should be dog boss and takes it seriously) She is absolutely wonderful with people. Stella needs a home as soon as possible as they will be married soon. She is currently fostered in Leavenworth, WA.

APOLLO
Age: Youth/Puppy
Weight: 70 Lbs
Gender: Male
Color: Sable/White
ID: W23-0403-IM1-0603

Like his namesake, Apollo is a golden boy, with his light, golden sable coat and sunny, sunny disposition.
In behaviour, he is pure sunshine puppy, running up for pets and affection, falling over himself to get a tummy rub. He LOVES people, wants to play with any dog who'll play with him (he's totally submissive with other dogs), is great with the kids we've seen him with, and reportedly shows little interest in cats. He just wants to be loved by his very own family who'll teach him what he needs to learn to keep getting those doggie treats he loves so much! Take him to school, give him attention and he'll be your forever friend. Apollo would do especially well in a home where there are already other dog(s) - he'll fit right in if you'll let him!! Apollo is being fostered in the Cle Elum, WA.

KODI
Age: Young Adult
Weight: 70 Lbs
Gender: Male
Color: White/Brown
ID: W21-0303-IM2-0703

Kodi has been adopted by his foster parent.

July 7, 2003 Kodi has been found and is home safe! :)
Just wanted to let you know, Kodi has been found and is now at home. He's a little skinny, but otherwise healthy. He was brought into the Washington County Animal Shelter today while I was there checking for him. Thank you to everyone for your help in finding him!
Mindy

If you find Kodi please contact Mindi at mindynyberg@hotmail.com
Kodi tunneled under his fence sometime between 11pm on 6/19/03 and 6am on 6/20/03.

Kodi is a gentle boy. He is not pushy with other dogs. He is just getting to trust people so he will take some patience. He doesn’t require a lot of attention but appreciates it when he gets it. He will watch you for hours to try to figure you out. He loves to have his tummy scratched. When he takes treats he is so gentle and never grabs. When you win his trust you will have made a friend for life. He would probably prefer a quieter home. Kodi is neutered and current on his shots. He is house broken. He never challenges fences. He loves to ride in the car and walks on the leash. He would make a wonderful companion. He is being fostered in Vancouver, WA.

JACK
Age: Young Adult
Weight: ?? Lbs
Gender: Male
Color: Black/White
Mal mix
ID: W47-0603-AM2-0603

Jack's family has decided that they just can't give him up so they are going to work out their living situation so that he can move with them.

Jack is a large neutered Alaskan Malamute mix who loves dogs, kids, and water. This friendly guy will win your heart with his gorgeous brown eyes! He knows how to sit, is very respectful, attentive on a leash, and extremely intelligent. A little cat training is in order as his attempts to meet kitties results in scaring them and a chase. He is an escape artist, so a fenced yard is ideal. Jack would love to be an indoor and outdoor dog--he wants to be wherever you are. Jacks owners had to give him up due to having to move to an apartment and not able to take him with them. Jack is being fostered in Arlington, WA

Buddy was found as a stray in the Spokane area. Every effort was made to find his family, but nobody ever came forward to claim him. He is a young male and VERY good looking. Buddy is great with non aggressive females. He is PERFECT on leash, does NOT pull at all. In the house he is a true gentleman, and was obviuosly well trained. Buddy loives people and children. Not good with other males, thought it MAY change after he is neutered which will happen very soon. Buddy is being fostered in the Spokane area.

ROXANNE
Age: Young Adult
Weight: 85? Lbs
Gender: Female
Color: Black/White
ID: S27-0403-IF3-0603E

Rest In Peace Roxanne, we will see you on the other side of the rainbow bridge.

Roxanne had to be PTS while in rescue before we were able to place her.
Roxanne was a very sweet gal. She was rescued out of the Everett Animal Control after she was picked up as a stray in Gold Bar, WA. Roxanne origionally appeared to be very well mannered with other dogs, not passive but instead reactive to how they act towards her, but has recently started to act out towards other dogs. This might be due to her being in a kennel 24/7 while waiting to be rescued. Roxanne desperatly needs a foster family, preferrably with no other pets where she can be evaluated out of the kennel. This young gal was a little under weight and could have stood to put on a few pounds. Roxanne showed a keen interest in cats as well as livestock, but appeared to do well with other dogs including small ones. Roxanne was located in Maple Valley, WA.

Bonnie, her foster Mom calls her my bonnie lass, is a year and a half old, she is sweet, a bit on the submissive side at first and then will kiss you and love you to pieces. Bonnie is a malamute/shepherd mix, raised with her brother Clyde (Clyde has been adopted seperatly). Their owner moved from country to city and can no longer keep them. She is recently spayed, and utd on vaccinations, never potties in her kennel, waits to be taken out. Both she and Clyde are a bit food aggressive with each other, however her foster Mom can touch their food with no problem. No cats, they keep eyeing their foster Mom's with that look.. like "yummy"! Typical of the malamute side of them. Bonnie is a bit shy around other dogs at first, then will try to play. Bonnie is being kenneled at "paws to adopt" which is a shelter extention, small and personable, located in Longview, WA. They can be contacted directly at 360-578-9691.

Weight: 100 Lbs
Gender: Male
Color: Gray/White
ID: O43-0802-AM-0703

Chief has been adopted by his foster family.

Chief's family could no longer keep him. This very loving boy has a wonderful temperament and is looking for a special home that is willing to share their love too! He knows basic obedience commands. Does not seem to mind the other dogs in his foster home. Unknown with cats and small animals. Chief does have an old injury in a front leg, but it does not seem to bother him or keep him from getting around!! Chief has a longer coat so he will need a little more brushing than the typical Malamute. A fenced yard is a must. Chief is being fostered in Yacolt, WA (near Vancouver). TRIXIE
Age: Adult
Weight: 75 Lbs
Gender: Female
Color: Red/White
ID: S36-0402-AF5-0703

Trixie was abandoned in the parking lot of a local shelter. Those that cared for her in the shelter and who assisted with her rescue describe her as a very sweet girl. Trixie's foster mom definitely agrees with this! Trixie is not real friendly with strange dogs, but is great with those that she shares the yard with. She is unknown with cats. Trixie is very much a lady in the house; she stays off the furniture, chews only on her dog toys and would love to sleep in the bedroom if allowed! Trixie loves the wide open spaces of a fenced backyard and house. She becomes very distressed when enclosed in a crate and will work non-stop until she is free from this type of confinement. Trixie is spayed and her shots are current. Trixie is fostered in the Greater Seattle Area

KWEEBO
Age: Young Adult
Weight: ?70 Lbs
Gender: Female
Color: Gray/White
Mostly Malamute
ID: WO96-1102-AF6-0703

Kweebo is a very sweet and energetic young dog who lives with a very small 86 year old woman. Because she is a happy girl and doesn't get much personal attention, she has knocked mom down because she is so excited to have company and this is not a safe situation for her owner. And so poor Kweebo now spends days either at the end on a chain or locked in her kennel and can go several days without much attention. Kweebo desperately needs a new home or foster family and soon! Kweebo appears to get along with other dogs and is submissive. Kweebo is very pretty and very people oriented. After Kweebo has had a few minutes to calm down when she gets a visitor she then wants to snuggle and love, preferring to lay or stand at your side leaning into as she gazes up and looks at you with great big eyes filled with love for people of all ages. Kweebo is currently living with her owner in the Centralia, WA area.

TIMBER
Age: Senior
Weight: 120 Lbs
Gender: Male
Color: Black/White
ID: O50-0803-?M8-0803O

Meet Timber, a very young at heart senior Alaskan Malamute / Siberian Husky mix with gorgeous blue eyes. Timber is handsome dog shown towards the back of the picture. Timber's owner is needing to place him and his best friend " Sierra" (also shown in the pict.) due to personal reasons, and is very heartbroken to have to adopt them out. Snow Dog Rescue is listing them to help these dogs find their new forever home. Please keep in my mind it is a courtesy listing, and you will need to decipher for yourself if they are right dog for you and your family. We hope he is! Timber is an extremely loving dog, who is known as the gentle giant. He is calm and sweet, and takes everything you say to heart. He is a 120 lbs snuggle bunny, who loves kids, other female dogs (no small breeds or cats), is house trained, is ok w/ car rides so long as their are no curvy roads, is neutered, and has basic obedience. His favorite pass times include going for walks, chewing on bones (which are his absolute favorite), and giving and receiving lots and attention. Timber does not like small animals, as Malamutes and Huskys alike have a strong prey drive. Meaning he will not like cats, small dogs, birds ect. Timber will also need a secure fence, because in his younger days he use to dig underneath. This problem can easily be solved with extended chicken wire on to the ground, or electric fencing. See www.huskycamp.com - husky proof your yard. Timber has been with his canine friend Sierra (a Mal / Lab mix) since puppies, and would love you so much if you kept them together, and made them apart of your family. If you are interested in meeting Timber please contact andrea@lttf.com. Timber hopes to hear from you soon, and wants to remind you that he has many more years of love to give.
Timber is located in Southern California but So Cal rescue there will transport them to a good home.

Anyone interested in one of both of these dear seniors should contact Andrea Wheeler at andrea@lttf.com

Sierra's owner is needing to place her and her best friend "Timber" (also shown in the pict.) due to personal reasons, and is very heartbroken to have to adopt them out. Snow Dog Rescue is listing them to help these dogs find their new forever home. Please keep in my mind it is a courtesy listing, and you will need to decipher for yourself if they are right dog for you and your family. We hope she is! Sierra is an extremely affectionate and loyal dog, who thrives on love and attention. Sierra loves going for walks, and does excellent on leash. Sierra is also house trained, loves children, other male dogs (no small breeds or cats), is spayed, and is a pro at basic obedience. Being part Labrador, Sierra also loves to swim, but oddly enough doesn't like the rain because it gets her paws wet. She is a little princess that enjoys just being hugged, or snuggling in front of the TV chewing on her favorite toy, the large ropes. Sierra is frightened of loud noises, and would like a home with a decent size fence to contain her. Sierra would especially like to be placed with her best friend Timber (shown in the pict.). They have been together since pups, and would love you forever if you could keep them as best friends. If you are interested in giving Sierra the loving home she deserves please contact andrea@lttf.com. ZUMA

Color: Gray/White

Zuma (short for MonteZUMA) is a very loving, big healthy guy who is strong (even though underweight) but sweet, and easy to handle. He jumped right up into his foster moms 1-ton pickup, ate hotdog pieces gently when fed by hand, goes easily where directed and is friendly to the gang-of-three-dogs who live at his foster home. He rarely talks and then generally only to express his displeasure at being the only dog in a kennel but he's a master at body language! You know exactly when he wants to go for a ride in the truck, come in the house, get petted, have a bite to eat and not get anymore baths, please! Zuma loves to give kisses and receive rubs and "leans" just as soon as he gets next to a person, tucking his big head right under your hand. Zuma also knows a few basic commands; he's very comfortable, loves being loved, is VERY playful when cooled off by a bath! but is respectful of people and the other dogs. He has a great coat, shedding well, not tool long or short - just right! It is clear that Zuma was a family dog; he knows how to behave in a home. Zuma has freckles.

Age: Young Adult
Weight: 90 Lbs
Gender: Male
Color: Sable/Brown/Red/White
ID: W34-0603-AM3-0903E

Update Sep 29 2003: Ty had to be put to sleep on Friday, I am still crying over this one. Ty had an obstruction in his intestines and it was too risky of an operation for him to go through with little chance of survival.

Ty is a big goofy love and really craves attention from people.  He has had some obedience training, this will need to be reinforced.  Ty will need to be gentle leader trained.  Ty has a back injury that can cause him some pain if he becomes too active.  Ty can be dog aggressive but he needs to go to a home without children under 12 and no other pets because both could hurt his back if they get to playful with him.  Ty has a very pretty coat that is unique in that it has browns, reds, blacks and some whites with a white undercoat. This young man will need to be on some kind of medical treatment to help reduce the incidences of pain, but this happy pretty boy is more than worth it!

ID: O63-1003-IM2-1003

This striking young guy is "mostly mal". He has the size, heavy structure, regal bearing, big blocky muzzle of malamutes - but he has one blue eye! So we're calling him a mal/sibe mix. Like many mals, he believe he should rule the world - at least doggy world - and is probably best as an only dog. He is intact and will probably modify those ideas when neutered (soon) so a female companion may be possible. Human companionship is, however, one thing he adores! Not cloying, strong and athletic but not hyper. He is currently being fostered in Yakima, WA.

This gorgeous guy recently came to rescue from a shelter in Walla Walla. He has been well-loved and shows it. Unfortunatly Tugs owners circumstances forced him to become homeless. Tug Loves car rides - and gets excited over any and all trucks - and play activities with the other dogs in the yard. He is good with other dogs at his fosters, great with people and kids, and is the typical sweet Mal. Tug is actually quite good on leash too, house trained, and lived with a smaller dog. His owner even said he is fine with cats. Tug is current on all shots. Tug just LOVES to play in the water, and soaks up most of the water from in foster moms big tub in one big dunking. This boy would enjoy rivers and lakes - but he isnt quite sure what a wave is! Tug is being fostered in Cle Elum, WA.

Gender: Male
Color: Gray/White
ID: S62-1003-AM6-1003

Samson is a big, sweet, loveable teddy bear that deserves the love of a good home. He is an adult so is past the high energy stage. His foster mom reports that he does quite well with other dogs that are friendly to him. So far Samson has not shown much interest in cats. Samson loves to go for walks and his learning to play with toys, chew on bones and what a car is all about! Samson is a growly/talkative boy. The family adopting him would have to understand that he will have an opinion on just about everything! Samson's prior owner decided brushing was too much trouble so took a razor to his hind end and removed most of his hair. The hair will grow back, but until it does, poor Samson is subject to his poodle dog hair do! Samson needs a home that will allow him to be in the house with the family. He also needs a secure yard that he can roam around in. No more chains for this loveable boy!! Samson is currently being fostered in Cle Elum, WA.

They need a secure fence and kennel situation as they have come to believe that the neighborhood cats are fair game. They do not bother the family cat however it would not be advisable to place these two in a home with cats. They are wonderful with people of all ages and dogs of all types. They have been raised with teenagers from pups and live next to an elementary school where they get regular visits with the kids and the kids just loved them and the dogs just love the kids in return. Tika is a total and complete sweetheart! She is not dog aggressive at all, even with same gender dogs. She consistently played with her evaluators Alpha Malamute very well, and should be good as a companion to any other dog. She is not toy, or food aggressive. She is an extremely gentle and very sweet Malamute just looking for a long tummy rub! She is, however somewhat prey driven with cats and horses. Tika shows no signs of aggressive behavior towards other dogs or people at all and simply would prefer to rub up against you, waiting for her owner to stroke her soft longer coat. Tika would be a wonderful pet for any family and a great companion for anyone! Tika appears to know most obedience commands such as "sit, come, down and stay." She is a dream on a leash, well-mannered, truly easygoing, and a very pretty girl! Tika's evaluators summary of her stated: Tika is simply a dream. What a lady!
Tika was pulled from the Everett shelter after being found as a stray on Highway 2 near Sultan. She had no tags or microchip.

KUMA
Age: Adult
Weight: 60 Lbs
Gender: Female
Color: Gray
ID: W35-0603-AF5-0903

Kuma plays well with the two male dogs she is fostered with, but she is a typical female malamute and thinks she is their boss. They think so too :-) Kuma is the fun director. She leads them all outside to play. She likes to play rough but only with other dogs who want to play rough. She is very active and also loves to talk and vocalize how she is feeling. She likes to play with older kids and lived with 20 month old in her former home. Kuma is very used to having kids around and misses them. She will make a wonderful family dog with an active family, preferably with another dog to play with, and children. Kuma also appears as if she is used to sleeping on somebodys bed. The second day at her foster home she was very restless until her foster mom laid down on the bed with her and she calmed right down. Kuma is an absolute doll. She chases cats but so far has done nothing when she corners them. She is VERY affectionate to new people. Kuma has been through 4H obedience school. She does well for her master and OK with others unless they have a treat then she will obey anyone! Kuma is reported to have a very loving playful spirit. Kumas owners had to give her up due to moving out of state and to an apartment and were unable to take her with them. Kuma is presently being fostered in Kenmore, WA.

AUSTIN
Age: Puppy/Youth
Weight: 50 Lbs
Gender: Male
Color: Black/White
ID: W69-1103-?M1-1003

Austin has been tentatively adopted by his foster family. If he regains his strength and appears to be ready for general adoption he may be relisted.

Austin is as cute as a bedbug. He is fast as greased lightning but hasn't yet challenged fences - he could if he wanted to! He is extremely affectionate and loving but not overly needy. He is shy in new situations but adjusts quickly! He gets along great with other dogs, he's very quiet, rides well in cars, loves to walk and LUVS to play!! He MAY even be OK with cats-not fully evaluated. Not sure of his age yet either - but he acts and looks like a youngster and he needs to gain some weight!! And he's just cute as a button. Austin is currently being fostered in Seattle, WA

DEMON
Age: Puppy/Youth
Weight: 110 Lbs
Gender: Male
Color: Black/White
ID: W72-1103-?M1-1103O

Demon was placed by his owners prior to them moving out of state with a family friend.

Demon plays well with other dogs but would prefer to be the only pet. A not too pushy female might be able to share his home. He is great with people from toddlers to adults according to his owners. They would love to keep him but they are in the military and are being sent to Japan and do not want to put him through the move and the quarantine period. Not yet two years old, Demon is housetrained and knows some basic commands. As with most malamutes, he would be best in a household without cats. Not much time to find Demon a home as his family has to move soon. Demon is currently living with his family in Tacoma, WA

More pictures of Demon should be available soon hopefully.

SAGE
Age: Young Adult
Weight: 115 Lbs
Gender: Male
Color: Red/White
ID: SO59-0903-AM3-1103

Sage is back at home as owners missed him too much! So, he's back with them and they are going to keep him.
Sage's owners would like to find him a new home as they do not feel that their lifestyle suits his needs. Sage is good with other dogs (he currently lives with a medium sized dog), he appears to be OK with cats, is good around strangers and good with children (currently lives with children - a 3 yr old and a 6 yr old). He knows some basic commands: sit, stay, come and shake and he walks well on leash. He will chase rabbits and birds. Sage is a big lovable guy who really likes attention and being at home. He does need a fenced yard as he will roam if given the opportunity. Sage currently lives in Port Orchard, WA.

CALISTA
Age: Senior
Weight: 115 Lbs
Gender: Female
Color: Black/Brown/White
Mostly Malamute
ID: W71-1103-AF8-1203

Calista, or Callie as she is affectionately called, is in need of a new home. Callie is 8 years old but has a lot of life and love left in her! Due to a lifestyle change, her owner can no longer care for her. Callie is described as being great with other dogs, good with cats and good with children. She is also good alone in the yard and in the car for short periods of time. She walks well on leash, but can be a little defensive with strangers. Callie loves to play with other dogs and really doesn't like being left alone for long periods of time - she wants to be part of a family! Her owner finds her most appealing traits to be her loyalty and love. Callie is current on her shots. Due to her senior status, she is experiencing some stiffness in her rear legs. Callie currently lives in Seattle.

Callie's situation is urgent. She needs to find a new home soon. The alternative is not one you want to think of after looking into her sweet brown eyes.

PLEASE, if you know anyone who might want this beautiful girl, please contact her owner, Paul Campbell at 206-440-5767 (home) or 206-287-9100 (work).

Callie is for now still living with her owner in Seattle, WA

This boy is definitely a family dog. In fact, he tells us that several times a day: uh, excuse me, but did you forget me? I think I’m supposed to be in the kitchen there with you. And he’s right. He is very easy and mellow in the house, totally ignores the family cat, gets along well with the other dogs. Kodiak politely asks to be petted and once you feel that thick plush velvet, it’s hard to stop petting him! Which is just fine with him.

Kodiak is a beautiful dog. He has excellent markings, the best coat of any dog here and that malamute massiveness about his build, even though he’s not at all a huge dog.

He has a fantastic personality. He is friendly, independent, listens well and has nice manners too. He knows sit, down, stay and sometimes even comes when called. Kodiak does well on leash and loves riding in a car. He loves walking and activity but loves simply laying down at your feet just as much. Kodiak is a delight.
Kodiak is presently being fostered in Cle Elum, WA.

CRAIG
Age: Adult
Weight: 100 Lbs
Gender: Male
Color: Sable
ID: W43-0603-?M7-1203

Craig has gorgeous markings. He is friendly, but definitely has that independent spirit typical of a nordic breed. Craig is questionable on age but has great teeth so is probably on the younger side of an adult. He is beautiful, although a little skinny and could easy put on 10-lbs more. He walks well on a leash, rides well in the car, and got along with his evaluators test dog so appears to do well with other Mals. Craig is being fostered in the Spokane area. Transport is available to the Puget Sound area.

SASHA
Age: Adult
Weight: 80 Lbs
Gender: Female
Color: Black/White
ID: S68-1003-AF3-1103

Sasha's owners could no longer keep her as she will not live peacefully with cats. She is a beautiful black/white girl who loves all people, including children. She is playful and non-aggressive with puppies and adult male dogs and probably would do well with females as well. She is totally non-aggressive about food. She knows some obedience commands but will need to learn to walk on a leash. Her prior owners used a harness for walking and for Sasha this meant time to pull! Sasha will need a home with a fenced yard and her new family will need to monitor the fence line for digging. Sasha is also completely housetrained so that when she has to go she will paw at you, or paws the door and whimpers. Sasha will then go out, do her business and come right back in. This is a very sweet, non-dominant female would thrive in a home with lots of human attention. She would also enjoy having a canine companion. She is currently shedding some coat, but is still a beautiful girl! Sasha is currently being cared for in Maple Valley.

SNOWBALL
Age: Young Adult
Weight: 80 Lbs
Gender: Male
Color: White
Mostly Malamute
ID: O60-0903-?F2-1203

Snowball and his sister Cayenne (also listed) are both Young Adults. They can be adopted together or separately. They have been raised in a loving home with children and other dogs. The previous owners are available to speak with. They now live on a large property fenced with hotwire (horse fencing) only, but we require a fully fenced yard for them. The reason they are being surrendered is that they will kill rabbits and probably cats. Separated, the prey drive is not so intense, but together they will hunt. Both have good indoor manners and would make a wonderful companion. We are seeking an experienced dog owner who can continue obedience training and have a lot of time to spend with them. please email katie@mybluedog for more information. Snowball and Cayenne are located at Second Chance Ranch in Maple Valley, WA

Gender: Male
Color: Sable/White
ID: W16-0303-AM2-1203?

We don't know what happened with Doobie.

Doobie is a love with people, kids included. He gets along with his foster homes dogs and even their cats (as far as the cats will allow) although he has the typical malamute possessiveness regarding food and toys. He requires an experienced malamute owner and will need a very secure fenced area. (He has been known to scale fences) Doobie is being fostered in Everett, WA.

KENAI
Age: Young Adult
Weight: 70 Lbs
Gender: Female
Color: Gray/White
ID: O67-1003-AF2-1203

Kenai has been adopted by his foster family

Kenai is a beautiful, loving dignified young female. She spent the first year of her life fending for herself in a small mountain town and has such a wonderful personality that most townsfolk missed her very much when rescue took her in. But they'd hired a dogcatcher so her wandering days were over. This background, however, does mean that she will see cats and chickens as possible dinner. Most dogs with this background are skittish, not Kenai! Although, she is quite reserved until she gets to know you. She loves family life, if you have gentle children, and gets along well with the many other dogs in her foster home.

Please email katie@mybluedog for more information.

Kenai is located at Second Chance Ranch in Maple Valley, WA

Misty is an easy going, very sweet, non-pushy girl. She gets along with everyone including the indoor cats and the other three Malamutes at her foster home, both male and female. Misty rides great in a car, appears to be leash and house trained. Misty takes treats gingerly and loves to play with toys. Misty comes already crate trained. Misty is absolutely sweet with people and loves to have her stomach scratched. Misty is very active and has lots of energy so would be great for someone who would take her hiking and to the woods. Mostly Malamute
ID: W110-1102-AM2-1203

Daniel is a happy, easy young boy who knows sit and down -- but would prefer to do them at the same time! He loves to play and he loves to walk, even on the leash. When I can work up the energy he is good for a run. Has one floppy ear that he tries to get to stand up but it will not work. Rescued from the County stray rd with an owner who would not call back, fixed and complete shots. Daniel plays well with others and is an easy going boy. Daniel is a Malamute mixed with German Shepperd, but is all Mal in heart. Daniel is fostered in Dayton, WA

Griffin is a mellow and content Malamute that is a very happy outdoors dog. He has adjusted really well to life with his foster family and is eager to do the same with a forever family. He loves to just hang out with you. He knows basic commands and walks on a leash by your side without pulling. He gets along great with the fosters other dog. He loves people and kids and is easy to please (just rattle his bowl). He would be a great companion for anyone, and being mellow he does not require the attention and exercise that a high maintenance Mal would. He is an older guy, but still has energy and is ready to go when you are. Grif is being fostered in the Greater Spokane Area. Transport is available to the Puget Sound area.
