KiKi is one of the Starlight Puppies. Her adoption fell through so she is looking for another home! KiKi is a very sweet little girl with a spunky personality and who likes to talk to you about everything. She likes to play with her sister MeiMei as well as investigate every corner of the puppy play yard for new things to do. She is a very busy little girl. She is more delicately built than her sister but makes up for her lack of size with puppy-speed and energy. She is just a little sweetie whose got a smidgen of pepper in her personality!
This little girl is already an active, busy, little puppy and is going to grow to be a large, active, energetic, and very furry dog. She is going to need lots of regular exercise so an active lifestyle and/or multiple walks per day are going to be necessary to keep both puppy and you happy. Requirements for her future home include a fully fenced yard with minimum 5-6 foot fencing, not an apartment or condo, no other female dogs and no small critters in the house.
PLEASE NOTE: We REQUIRE that these puppies be spayed or neutered as soon as they reach the appropriate age. To that end the adoption donation for the Starlight Puppies is 350 dollars, with 100 of that amount refunded to the adoptive family once proof of altering has been received from your vet.
If you are ready to give this little darling a new home in the New Year, she is ready to make the new year both fun and interesting!
KiKi is being fostered with her sister in North Bend.

As you can see Max is about as cute as they come! He is a Malamute Mix that we think it part Sibe due to his beautiful blue eyes. In order to save his life, Max needs to get out of the shelter in the next few days and we desperately need your help! We are out of foster homes and the boarding kennel we use in emergencies is full for the holidays. As you can see in his photo, Max has asked Santa for a new forever home, but at the very least he needs a foster home until after January 2nd.
That said, Max will need a home that has experience with Malamutes, huskies or other stubborn large breed dogs. He has been known to be an escape artist so will need a securely fenced yard and regular exercise to keep him entertained. He was a little detached when it came to people and other dogs when he was first brought in as a stray, but is slowly becoming more socialized at the shelter. He will need a responsible home with no young children and will need to attend training classes to learn his basic commands. Max is ready to go to a home where he can feel safe and secure with a human pack leader. He may also enjoy the company of another canine play mate to help keep him occupied.
If you can help with Max, even temporarily fostering him, please fill out an application online and we will schedule your home visit as soon as possible.
Max is being cared for in Everett, WA.

Kuma is one of the Starlight Puppies. His adoption didnt work out so hes looking for another home! Kuma is a great little guy with an engaging but laid back personality. At 10 weeks old, he is very smart and already working on his crate training and housetraining, and is very good with the command LEAVE IT but is still working on coming when called. There is just too much interesting stuff to investigate to come right away! He gets along pretty well with the other dogs in his foster home, though they arent used to having an active puppy around and can be a bit cranky sometimes. If he grows into his ears, Kuma is going to be a big dog so will require a fenced yard and a home where he can participate in an active lifestyle with his family.
PLEASE NOTE: We REQUIRE that these puppies be spayed or neutered as soon as they reach the appropriate age. To that end the adoption donation for the Starlight Puppies is $350, with $100 of that amount refunded to the adoptive family once proof of altering has been received from your vet.
If you are ready to give this terrific little fella a new home in the New Year, he is ready to make the new year both fun and interesting!
Kuma is being fostered in North Bend.

Alyeska is as sweet as she can be and packs a ton of personality in petite frame! She loves all people, thinks she is a lap dog, and is convinced anything you are eating is something she should be enjoying as well.
She is well behaved in the house, does well on lead, rides great in the car, is learning basic commands, and working on taking treats gently.
Aly gets along well with other dogs, and is very fond of her pack mate Yoda who is also available for adoption. They would make a wonderful pair. Aly is unknown with cats, but chases the occasional squirrel.
If you would like to meet Alyeska or any of the other gorgeous Malamutes shown here, please fill out an online application and we will schedule your home visit as soon as possible.
Alyeska is being cared for in Vancouver, WA.

Lady is located in Leavenworth, WA.

Keylah is as sweet as the Key Lime Pie she is named after. We know her exact age, 1 years old on Nov 7, because her AKC registration papers came with her.
She has truly excellent house manners and is an absolute DELIGHT! Very loving and playful, she is housetrained and knows basic commands. Listens extremely well for a young malamute.
In the shelter, she showed no interest in cats or small dogs (only an indicator but a good one) and has been great playing with large dogs in her foster home.
And Keylah LOVES being part of the family; she deserves to be a Star Attraction! She wants nothing more than to be in the house and be part of family life; she will go to her run and will sleep quietly at your bedside if you want, or in her crate.
Although she is quite young, her formative year appears to have been a good one; her demeanor demonstrate a loving and positive start in life. She has become quite a wonderful malamute.
A better companion for your activities at any level or place will be hard to find. Keylah has a fabulous, plush malamute snow coat and big snowshoe feet. Her coat also seems to be one that thins out well, making her a good candidate for fun in the sun as well.
And a more spectacular deep gorgeous malamute howl is also hard to find. Soon as the fire engine goes off, Keylah joins in. It is lovely and haunting.
Keylah is being fostered in Cle Elum, WA and travels to the Bellevue Bothell area with her foster mom regularly.

Kahne is now located at Seattle Humane. Click here for more information.

Kal is a very handsome senior boy that has a ton of get up and go. He loves walks and is pretty well behaved on the leash. He is a very friendly boy that loves to talk a lot, and seems to have plenty to say. Kal has lived with three other dogs, including small ones, and cats. Kal is looking for a new home where he can be in a relaxing atmosphere with no young children. He will do a best with an experienced Malamute owner who knows the breeds stubborn tendencies and will be Kals new pack leader. Kals dream home would be a stable one where he goes for his daily walk then comes home to a big fluffy bed in the living room so he can nap and have happy dreams. If you would like to meet Kal or any of our other wonderful Mals shown here, please fill out an online application and we will schedule your home visit as soon as possible.
Kal is being cared for in Shoreline, WA

StarLight, Starbright, Star is the mom of the Starlight Puppies. She came into rescue with her pups when they were only a few days old and now that they are weaned and headed off to homes of their own Star is more than ready to find her own new family. Star is a young, beautiful and energetic girl with a sweet personality. She loves to play tag in the yard with her foster Dad and to run the perimeter of the fence at full speed. She is VERY smart and loves people along with the attention they give her. As a result she is a quick learner and has already learned the commands necessary to get her dinner such as sit, wait, and release, though she still needs work on her leash manners. She would love to attend obedience classes with her new family.
Star will need to be housetrained, using a crate this should be easy since she is such a quick learner. She will also need a very active lifestyle including daily walks or runs. When she is not given a job to do she tends to find one herself, and it appears digging and chewing are two of her favorite things when bored. She may like to have a male doggie friend to play with too. She is unknown with females, but gets along well with the male in her foster home. Star is very food motivated so should be very easy to train. Just watch those kitchen counters as she likes to counter surf if you have food out and your head is turned the opposite way.
If you are ready for an active youngster like Star, please fill out an online application and we will schedule your home visit as soon as possible.
Star is being cared for in North Bend, WA.

Lucy is one tall cool drink of water, she has the longest legs! She is very young and very friendly, but she is also your typical young female and can be very stubborn and independent. We would like to see her signed up for an obedience class right away in her new home so she learns who her new leader is before she gets any older. She does resource guard over food and toys so is not a candidate for a home with young children. Lucy seems to do well with other dogs although she has a rough play style, so will probably do better with dogs her size or larger. According to shelter paperwork she has lived with cats and a ferret in her former home. Apparently the poor girl was chained up inside the house during the day for eating the carpet so she may be going through a stage where crate training would be very helpful for her. Lucy rides well in the car and is just waiting for her forever home to come drive her away.
If you have the time in your life to spend some time at obedience school with this beautiful young girl, please fill out an online application and we will schedule your home visit as soon as possible.
Lucy is being cared for in Kent, WA.

Wookie is the most turnkey of the Colville dogs. Like all of them, he is used to having canine companionship and is absolutely starved for human companionship.
Wookie is active, extremely loving once he trusts you, playful and wants nothing more than someone to pet, kiss, feed and walk with him. He is still a bit handshy but once he finds that you are going to pet him he wiggles in sheer delight and smiles so hard his face darn near cracks!!
Wookie is quite beautiful. He has a classic malamute look, great coat for winter or summer. Not too big or too small, he loves having his own dog house and kennel and often goes in the kennel to sit and watch his little corner of the world.
Mr. WookieWoo does great with female dogs - initiating play and running round and round. But he tends to be jealous of boy dogs; no brothers for him but give him a girlfriend and oohlala.
Like the rest of the Colville bunch, he has shown no resource guarding, little in the way of escape tendencies. Wooks truly has the potential to be a great companion and family dog with some consistent handling and trust building. Gently teach him what you want him to be. Wooks will try his very very best.

Conan is a fantastic guy who just loves hanging out with the pack at his foster home and being a dog. Conan is very intelligent and a quick learner. He knows basic commands like sit, down and come, and he listens well. If you would like to meet Conan, please fill out an application and we will schedule your home visit as soon as possible.
Conan is being cared for in Maple Falls, WA.

Is it a whale? No, its Chewbacca! He is a larger than life, handsome boy that loves men and loves to be outside. He needs to lose weight, but seems very willing to be active given the opportunity, so with a regular exercise program this boy should shed the extra pounds in no time. Sadly, Chewy was turned in to the shelter after his owner passed away. It appears he is missing him as he is gravitating towards men since he has been in his foster home. Chewy loves the outdoors and wants to explore. He will make an excellent companion for walks, hikes and playing in the snow. He has shown a little too much interest in the cats in his foster home, so would probably do best in a home with no cats. He does get along with the two female Mals that live there, so could do well with a companion dog. Chewbacca could use some basic training and it appears may not be housebroken, although that could be easily taught. If you are a guy looking for a really good looking dog who prefers the outdoors and a little adventure, this is just the guy for you!
If you would like to meet Chewbacca or any of our other wonderful Mals, please fill out an online application and we will schedule your home visit as soon as possible.
Chewy is being cared for in Leavenworth, WA.

Xavier is an exuberant good looking pup who is extremely social and has an easygoing and sweet personality. He loves to go for walks or runs any time any place. He needs a yard where he can stretch his legs but most importantly he needs a home that he can be part of the family. He longs to be in the house, and he has proved to be great with kids. He is very intelligent and is good at getting out of fences and kennels so he will most likely need a six foot fence with a hot wire around the top. He has been around cats in the house but never unsupervised, and he usually ignores them, so at this point his status with cats is still a bit unknown.
Xavier is young, very strong and wants to be very active. He would be a great sled or weight puller, snow shoe and hiking companion. Xavier NEEDS to go to a basic training class as soon as possible with his new family. He will do well with an experienced Malamute owner who will be his pack leader.
If you would like to meet this fun loving boy, or any one of our other Mals, please fill out an application and we will schedule your home visit as soon as possible.
Xavier is being cared for in Kent, WA.

Gordo loves to be indoors with his owners, resting on the sofa or in your lap if you will let him! And without a doubt he is at his very best in the outdoors, especially in the winter, this is his favorite time of the year. He would enjoy any outdoor activities you like, especially if they include snow. He will do fine in the summer as well, as long as he has plenty of water and a shady place to relax and daydream.
Gordo is eagerly awaiting his new forever family. If you would like to meet Gordo please fill out an adoption application and we will schedule your home visit as soon as possible.
Gordo is being cared for in Duvall, WA.

Luna is one lucky girl, we managed to get her out of the kennel right before her time there was up. We do not know too much about her yet, but we can say this for sure. She is a big, grinning, wiggly, friendly lovebug begging for attention. She was very excited to get her collarand leash put on and head out of the shelter to the car. She was not happy to see she was going to have to ride in a crate, but grudgingly got in it and was fine once there. Once back out of the car she walked really well on the leash, no pulling, and our volunteer actually calls her one of the more civilized Malamutes she has walked in her life! She needs some basic training brush up and would love to go to obedience classes to meet new doggy friends. Regular walks or runs would be great, and she is ready to learn hiking, camping and snow shoeing. She takes treats very gently. Luna is unknown with kids or cats, but is in a foster home so we hope to know more soon.
If you are looking for an active female Mal that can get you out of the house for your New Years Resolution exercise program, why not you fill out an application and we will schedule your home visit as soon as possible.
Luna is being cared for in Garfield, WA.

This boy is a Malamute Lovers malamute. He is a big overgrown puppy, underweight at 90 lbs and is boisterous, loves life, loves people, loves other dogs and LOVES to play! He is agile, athletic and has an outstanding temperament.
Kumba is just a magnificent dog. He is also truly an ovegrown puppy. He is agile and doesnt leap up to the top of his doghouse -- he floats -- and is wonderful to watch. He plays hard with his buddy Tango, all day long, when it is cold. In warmer weather, after play naps are their preference. With their toy. No resource guarding, no issues. He does not want to fight with other dogs. I would trust this dog in public activity settings like hiking trails, etc.
Kumba can leap tall buildings - and small children - in a single bound. Can handle activity with you all day long, day after day. But if you leave him alone all day long day after day, he will make up his own activity. He is already learning some commands but needs a rich, active life.
Upshot is - Kumba is an absolutely fabulous dog who needs the right home. Kumba believes the world is full of good things and we want him to continue with that belief! He needs interaction - he is a puppy and will not do well left at home alone all day every day. He will do very very well with another young dog. He needs school - but it must be the right, positive-training school.
Kumba does not have a mean bone in his body but he is not a candidate for small children unless the home is one where he is properly supervised. He is VERY strong. In short, Kumba is a magnificent dog with an outstanding temperament and very few manners.
He is a gem. A gem needs the right setting to truly shine.
Kumba is being cared for in Cle Elum.

Samson and Delilah are a duo, to be adopted together. Why? Samson is blind and Delilah is his touchstone. But if you want easygoing family-dog malamutes who are grateful to be part of the family; low maintenance personalities, easy to integrate into your home, no pressure to keep them occupied, can comfortably live in your backyard while you are at work and taking the kids to their activities, no resource guarding, no take-away issues (which can be a concern with toddlers) - these two are perfect.
At first they were super-scared and shy. With only a couple of visits from new people, they are bounding out of their shy-shells! And astonishingly, on walks, Samson is the confident one, once he trusts the person on the other end of the leash. Delilah was extremely defensive of him at first with other dogs but is now learning that she does not have to protect him; her human will do that and Delilah can relax and play herself.
These two are impressive. Samsons ability to navigate is amazing. Delilah is just sugar-sweet with those big brown eyes and Yoda ears. Their ability to overcome natural fears is something we can all learn from. If you did not know Samson was blind, you might never be able to tell. You would probably just think he had the bestest nose in malamute-land. He moves like a bloodhound, in fact.
Like the others, Samson and Delilah want SO VERY MUCH to love and be loved.
Special needs here, because of Samsons blindness, but this is an extremely rewarding pair of dogs. Samson and Delilah are in Cle Elum.

Akyla is a whole lotta Mal who would love to find a forever home willing to show her some tough love by putting her on a much needed diet and moderate exercise program. Akyla is good with other dogs and cats, good with all children and great on a leash. She likes being outside but is well behaved inside too, and very tuned to being with people. Akyla is showing some signs of arthritis, but the doc says that getting the weight off will most likely make her much more comfortable. She is a sweet, very easy to get along with girl who just wants to please.
If you are looking for a best friend and medium activity level Malamute, Akyla could just be the dog for you! Fill out an application and we will schedule your home visit as soon as possible.
Akyla is being cared for in the Seattle area.

She was nervous in her former home as she knew she was not pleasing her owner. But she pleases all of her owners in her new home mightily and so No nervousness at all!! Just love and play and happiness.

If you love spending time in the mountains or snow, Titus may just be the boy for you. Please fill out an application and we will schedule your home visit as soon as possible.
Titus is being cared for in Tacoma, WA.

This is not a picture of Chinook. This is a picture of what Chinook is probably going to look like, except that Chinooks ears stand up.
Chinook is a BIG, adorable gray and white woolly malamute. We know he is a woolly because we know these things but he has been shaved so right now he looks like a great big bratwurst with pancake feet. His pic on the album is a few weeks old. His mask is now showing - more REAL pix later.
Chinook is adorable. And huge. And sweet as pie.
We shooed him into the playyard with 2 other fosters - Tango and Rose. They get along great. When he does not want to play he just slaps Rose or turns away. When another dog is growly towards him, he usually turns away. He is very good with other dogs - quite confident. And with people too - no guarding or testy behaviour at all. That is important in a dog this size, esp as he has apparently not been trained much yet.
But Chinook is ready to learn and learns quickly. He is curious and stubborn and sweet and very very malamute. He wants to be part of everything, in the house and out. Outside, he is bouncy but not destructive. Initially did not much like being kenneled but did well in the backyard. Now he goes and sits in his kennel at dinner time to tell Foster Mom - Time to Eat! He is SO funny. Chinook has hit the 4 foot- high hotwire and thought that was just plain mean. Bangs on the malamute-screen-door because he is pretty sure he belongs in the house. In this house, Chinook will take up the whole living room.
He is SO cute! 125++ pounds, well over 6 foot tall when he stands on his hind legs and just an aw shucks, big, happy-go-lucky grinning cute-as-a-button puppydog.
Chinook is in Cle Elum, WA.

Wow, Jessie is a very pretty redhead with golden eyes and floppy ears. she is a real sweetheart. She has lost her home/family through no fault of her own. Her owners divorced and went their separate ways into apartments that do not allow dogs. Jessie is crate trained and rides well in a car. She walks pretty well on leash and gets along with children of all ages. Cats are unknown at this point, but her foster mom will let us know soon. Pretty Jessie gets along with male dogs. Females not so much. She definitely wants to be the alpha. She is a talker, loves to tell you what went on today and when it is time to eat. She is a talker, loves to tell you what went on today, when it is time to eat, when it is time for a walk, and when she would prefer to ride in the car. She is accustomed to accompanying her owners many places.
If you think this sweet girl sounds like the perfect match for you, please fill out an application and we will get your home visit scheduled as soon as possible.
Jessie is being cared for in Seattle, WA

Tango is the most playful and friendliest of the Colville dogs. He has the body of a malamute, the temperament of a siberian and the head of - well, he kinda has a bird head when he cocks his head and looks at you. Tango sizes people and dogs up quickly and is ready to play all of the time!! None of the Colville dogs who are listed (Wookie, Smiley, Tango, Samson and Delilah) have any deep-seated abuse-type issues. They simply were harshly treated, and are now learning to trust humans.
Tango has learned that part! He loves everybody, after some initial sniffing. Give him a piece of hot dog and he is your best friend forever. And he will STEAL those treats right out of your pocket. And STEAL your glove and giggle while he plays Keep Away. This dog is a hoot and very very smart.
Tango pushes other dogs to play and if a dog tries to fight, he yelps and runs away. He is extremely adept socially but must have a playmate to keep him occupied. Like the others, he completely understands how to live in a pack and is very happy to do so.
The puppy in him shows all of the time.
Tango is in Cle Elum.

Sitka is living with two very young children in her current home, but we would recommend a home with older children. She does not know her size and can knock small children over easily. Sitka has a very high prey drive and does not do well with small animals, cats or small dogs. She is used to being an only dog, and would love to go to a home where she can continue to be Mal queen of the household. She will need a securely fenced yard as she likes to go wandering when given the opportunity.
Are you Sitkas lucky new owner? If you would like to meet Sitka or any of the other wonderful Mals shown here, please fill out an application and we will schedule your home visit as soon as possible.
Sitka is being cared for in Spokane, WA.

Just one look at the beautiful white Jaxson and the old Cat Stevens tune floats through your head. Oh, Im bein followed by a moonshadow, moonshadow, moonshadow. Leapin and hoppin on a moonshadow, moonshadow, moonshadow. Found as a stray, Jax is just a wonderful boy. He has very expressive eyes that look at you as if he is trying to tell you something. He is very smart and quick to learn, and he loves to run and is pretty good on the leash. He is a bit unsure of his situation and shows that by being a bit standoffish at first. Once he gets to know you though, he comes around great. He adores his squeaky toys and his fluffy dog bed, and seems to get along with other dogs. Jaxson is an all around sweet, sweet boy who would love all the attention and security of his own forever home.
If you are active and looking for a beautiful young Mal like Jaxson, please fill out an application and we will schedule your home visit as soon as possible.
Jaxson is being cared for in Cle Elum, WA.

If you are looking for a laid back mellow mal Nalie is your girl. She does get a little excited when she sees the leash come out as she knows its time for her walk. She loves getting attention and she will weasel her way through your legs so you will pet and scratch her back.
Nalie has been around small children and she loves them! She is a wonderful dog, great with kids of all ages. Nalie really hasnt had too much interaction with other pets. When she has been around other dogs she got along well with them. She has never been around cats.
Normally Nalie has a beautiful woolly coat but had to be shaved recently due to a skin infection. She is currently on antibotics so will be back to her glorius fluffy self once her coat grows back.
If you would like to offer this sweet girl a forever home please fill out an online application to get the ball rolling.
Nalie is located in Puyallup, WA.

Koda is a very sweet boy who came into rescue after his owner passed away. He was out of shape from a lack of exercise and being "loved" with too much food but has lost weight with a restricted diet and some regular hikes with his foster mom. He is very laid back and friendly, really loves his walks and does not pull much when walking. He rides well in the car, knows basic commands and does best with older kids. He has been an only dog but currently lives with a female mal at his foster home. He seems to get along with other dogs very well - he is a lover not a fighter. Koda is a little on the shy side but really wants to please his human and will make someone a great companion. He can not go to a home with cats.
If you think this easy going boy would be a good fit for your lifestyle, please fill out an application and we will schedule your home visit as soon as possible.
Koda is being cared for in Shoreline, WA.

Bebe is a beautiful smaller Golden Girl. She is sad these days. Bebe came into rescue originally with her buddy Kaya but he has left her side, due to illness.
Bebe needs a new family - human, canine or both.
She is excellent with all children and all other dogs of all sizes. She is trained to sit, lay down, stay and heel on leash. She is smart but can be distractable. She is a watch dog of sorts, even when dozing her ears do the radar sweep, listening for errant sounds. Bebe is a talker, very people oriented and loves attention all the time.
She does well hanging out with another dog even if she is half his size. She initiates play and will keep the whole family - human and canine - trim and on your toes. Bebe is also not a digger or an escaper. She does have a habit of getting into cars, she loves to just climb into the back seat and sit there! She will be happy to show you how much joy you can have just watching her watch the world go by as you run your errands.
Bebe has a high prey drive too, so no cats.
Bebe is being cared for in Spokane.

Smiley is one of the Colville dogs. A bit shy with people initially but coming around just great!! Smiley is also wonderful with other dogs - extremely adept socially. She understands how to live in a pack and is very happy to do so. She might, however, be just fine as an only dog too. She has a great coat - it is pure plush velvet and easy-care in all weather. She is a great size, not too big or small.
And Smiley will bond with her forever human and will never let go. Smiley has gotten loose a couple of times and hung around. In fact, she let my dogs talk her into coming back. It was pretty amazing.
Once Smiley trusts, she wants to be all over you - her whole body wriggles non-stop in pure delight. But any strong command stops her in her tracks; she just wants to please. Although I do not know of experience with children, I believe she will be a dog that especially endears herself to children and who will completely fall in love with Her children.
None of the Colville dogs who are listed (Wookie, Smiley, Tango, Samson and Delilah) have any deep-seated abuse-type issues. They simply were harshly treated, and are now learning to trust humans. Their willingness to understand what humans want and to do just exactly that is outstanding.
Smiley can also turn into the mistress of Keep Away as she can be very playful. The puppy in her pops up every day.
We believe Smileys jaw was broken and not reset; hence her perpetual smile. Smiley is in Cle Elum.

Picking her up from the shelter we discovered that we had a little mini-mal-mix on our hands. And a cuter - and stinkier one - could not be found. Ladybug is a woolly snowdog probably mixed with some gsd, or maybe something a little smaller. She is petite. And sweet. And not stinky anymore.
LadyBug is a wonderful companion. She is adorable and is a homebody looking for love. She is eager to please and slightly scared when she thinks you are mad at her. Sweet little ladies like LadyBug learn quickly and Ladybug is smart, very smart.
She loves to go for walks and is ready whenever you are but also loves to just be with her human. She will be a great home dog and may do well with chldren. Too short to be a counter cruiser she would certainly try if she could! Likes food, ignores other dogs - she would just rather be loved and is quite certain that is her Due in Life!
Ladybug does not need lots of room and will do well in town. She just needs a warm hearth and lotsa love.
She is not old, or young. If you have a weakness for little (old) ladies and bouncy little toddlers you may fall in love at first sight. LadyBug has a few creaks and leaks, very easily managed and inexpensive. She has been checked by a vet so we can give you all the skinny. Her coat does take some extra care!but OOH she is such a fuzzy furry teddy bear it is SO worth it!
Ladybug is in Cle Elum, WA.

Rose is a loving CuddleDog. Rose is also an amazing Athlete. Add to that her unusual plush velvet splash coat and you have a very unique dog. Rose has more than malamute in her, no doubt. Possibly some Siberian husky and maybe even some Karelian Bear Dog. Her unusual coat and those KBD eyes are the features that will initially catch your attention.
But her athleticism may be her most striking feature.
She plays hard with other dogs. She is SO fast. She could easily maintain pace and distance with runners and bicyclers. But she adores people and will stop her playing and running to be petted because she truly loves attention. And she is gentle when she asks for pets, turning herself inside out for belly rubs and gentle kisses and asking to be held.
Rose has a beautiful malamute woowoo and will try to be boss with other dogs - especially if they are bigger than her. She LOVES having a big male playmate.
She focused on cats at the shelter, but when one swiped at her she retreated without aggression and walked away. She has not challenged the fence in her foster home, although she could clear it easily.
If you would like to meet Rose or any of our beautiful Mals, please fill out an online application and we will schedule your home visit as soon as possible.
Rose is being cared for in Cle Elum, WA.

Are you looking for a fuzzy Sweet Tart to turn into a Sweet Heart? Young Keisha is a 14 month old spayed female who may be just what you are looking for. She is an owner surrender because of a move that couldnt include her.
Keisha is bursting with energy and sparkle and a bit of uncontrolled youthfulness that needs some containment. Right now she wants to jump up and love you, tell you how much fun she can be, and how sweet she really is. She needs to go to school - after all she is still school age! - and is so in love with people and with life that she will probably mistake that training for attention, which is all she really wants anyway.
Keisha rides well in cars and is not crate shy. Just like any teenager she needs a good grooming to make ready for the summer.
Keisha says: I have manners, but sometimes forget how to use them; really I am still a puppy. I would love to go on long runs and hikes and am just waiting for my human to show me the ropes! I am an independent, intelligent girl and have a mind of my own, like all my malamute buddies. I love to get hugs and loves and will return them ten-fold.
If you would like to meet Keisha or any of our beautiful Mals, please fill out an online application and we will schedule your home visit as soon as possible.
Keisha is located in Cle Elum, WA.

Harley and Jenny are crate trained, good with other dogs and even great with small children. AND they were raised with cats. It does not get any better than that!.
Until you look at those faces and see the big grins and abundant love that these dogs know how to give. They are well worth a Meet-n-Greet. The poor babes are stuck in the backyard for now, not knowing where their mom went or what is in store for them.
Harley and Jenny are turn-key, sweet as pie and in need of a permanent or even temporary family of their own. If you and yours want a big Teddy Bear, well, take a gander. Harley and Jenny are a Two-Fer-the-Price-of-One. A single adoption donation will be happily accepted but our primary focus here is to find a place for two deserving Teddy Bears to snuggle.
Harley and Jenny are located in Olympia, WA.

Rohn is soooo sweet and a total cutie. As soon as we sprung him from the shelter and he caught sight of his liberators young son, he started play-bowing, as if to say Hey! A Playmate! Cool!
And he has such a beautiful and easy-care coat for summer, he will be able to play, camp, walk, bike and lay around the shade on even the hottest days with you. And wait until he fluffs up with his snowcoat. He will be gorgeous then.
Rohn loads easily into car and crate, needs to learn some leash manners but is not hyperactive. Rohn is going to be a truly awesome dog and it will not take much to get him to that place. If you want a dog who can keep up with all levels of activity and travel with the family and who loves people, seems to get along well with other dogs and will generally be an all-round great addition to your family, Rohn is well worth meeting.
Rohn is being cared for in Spokane.

Shango, what a cutie! Named after the African God of Thunder, Drums and Dance, he is on the small size, but big on personality. Shango was found as a stray so we dont have much info on him yet, but after interacting with a few of our volunteers we can say that he rode well in the car and has so far not been overly interested in other dogs. We will have much more information on him soon, so keep your eyes open for an update!
If you would like to meet Shango or any of the other handsome Mals you see here, please fill out an application and we will schedule your home visit asap.
Shango is being cared for in Kent, WA.

Zodiac, affectionately known as Zodi, is the perfect example of big things coming in small packages! This little girl packs a full size Mal attitude in a petite little body. She has the sweetest and most loving disposition. She is an active girl without being insanely energetic. Zodi loves to play in the yard, enjoys her walks, and, unlike most Mals, may even like to play in the water. She is at least curious about it. She is very people friendly and would do well in a family with older children that would include her in outdoor activities. While Zodiac grew up with other dogs she can be picky about doggy friends. She prefers her canine playmates to be her size rather than smaller than her as she is not good with small critters. Her love is for her people. Zodi is well trained and knows sit, down, and shake - with both feet, and she has excellent house manners. If you are looking for a furry bundle of love to cuddle, this girl may be for you, especially if you give belly rubs!
Zodi is currently being cared for in Kent where she is described as so well behaved and a big snuggle bug who loves to be loved. To meet this sweet girl, please complete an online adoption application.

Chip and Dale are two young brothers who are as full of life as their pictures look. Dale is all ears, can you tell which one he is? Chips ears do not stand up. Too much work, I guess.
These youngsters are agile, playful and although they were raised together, they should probably be adopted out separately. Otherwise, we have the feeling that sooner or later, they will get into trouble although it is hard to imagine. They have mischievous grins and happy-go-lucky attitudes and have been well loved all of their young lives.
They were raised with cats, kittens, small children and visiting small dogs. It is unusual to find puppies where we know that this is the case.
Chip and Dale are housetrained and said to be accustomed to living in a family environment where they go in and out of the house and yard. They need a new home in fact through no fault of their own; they are really sweet, loving, and great with other animals and with people. They are a bit boisterous as one would expect of puppies but they learn amazingly quickly. More pictures coming.
Chip and Dale are playing in Cle Elum these days.

When you see Le beau Monsieur Trey, two words come to mind.International Supermodel. Hes tall with a long torso and legs, and has beautiful longer hair. And when he walks he literally glides down the runway. Found as a stray, it was discovered Trey has an International microchip yet it had never been registered to anyone. This boy is a real catch! He doesnt make much noise, but when he does, he tends to talk not bark. He loved singing along in the car on the ride from the shelter, while kissing his chauffeurs ear every few minutes. The rest of the time he either lay down and enjoyed the ride, or put his big, beautiful head out the window to the delight of everyone else stuck in traffic on I405. This boy is a real show stopper. He is playful and goofy but really well mannered. He has gentle and beautiful eyes. He was in the kennel with other dogs, male and female at the shelter and did great. They did not test him with cats, but we will try to do that soon. He seems to walk well on leash but could use some basic training. Trey could be the talk of the town during weekdays, then pull a sled or hike on weekends.
Dont miss out on meeting Trey or any of the other Mals you see here. Fill out an online application and we will schedule your home visit as soon as possible.

Are you an active person looking for a boy who just wants to spend his life giving love back? Lucky just may be the guy for you. He has never known what it is like to be the center of someones life, can you do that for him? Please fill out an online application and we will schedule your home visit as soon as possible.
Lucky is being cared for in Spokane, WA.

But if you are not up for some snuggles she will happily go for a ride, or a walk with you - she is very good at both. She is lead-trained and, like most law-abiding Mals should always be on a lead when in public. She is papered (not the newspaper kind) but has never been registered. Maya is also house-trained and crate-trained and has lots of wonderful loving qualities, not the least of which is loyalty.
She is an owner-surrender because her current environment doesnt allow her the singular attention she needs and wants - well, really like many female malamutes, she is just plain not willing to share her kingdom with another canine female. Male canine - well, probly ok. Human female - most definitely!
In fact Maya likes some men, after getting to know them (dont we all) , but she is been raised with her mom and will initially gravitate there. So Dads, you may need to do a little courting. But she is a cheap date - couple hotdogs and you will get the belly-rub-nod too.
Like most mals, Maya is not a good candidate for dog parks or puppy playskool. Good news is she doesnt need to party; she is happy being part of her human family and would do best in a home with no small children under the age of 10.
If you are looking for a fabulous female friend, full of furry fidelity who you can love, and who will return all that love right back to you, this fur-girl is for you.
Maya is located in Issaquah, WA.

Aly gets along well with other dogs. Aly is unknown with cats, but chases the occasional squirrel.
If you would like to meet Alyeska or any of the other gorgeous Malamutes shown here, please fill out an online application and we will schedule your home visit as soon as possible.

Dewey is a small malamute, or perhaps a mal-sibe mix, sable and white. Selena is a silver sibe. They live together with their human Dad and will need a new home soon. They would love to be adopted together. They dont absolutely have to be but it will be best for Dewey if they are; he is a bit shy in new situations and leans on Selena.
They are terrifically well-adjusted home-activity-family dogs, have not lived with kids but have been part of a normal home for several years. Only reason they are going to a new home is that Dad has joined the Navy and cannot take them with.
They are a smart, happy-go-lucky pair with no special needs - well, beyond the normal Requirement for Snowdogs to be the Center of the Universe and All things Fun. Dewey and Selena will bring great joy into their new families lives.
More pictures to come...

Lucky runs Georges life. She rides him like a pony, pesters him unmercifully. And George loves her and lets her get away with whatever she wants.
So if you want a big malamute to love, try taking this little bundle of joy with him. You do not have to - they can be adopted separately - but you will never regret it if you do. They are an absolute joy.
George and Lucky are with a rescue outside of Spokane.

Looking for a BIG AKC giant female to pull the sled and then cuddle at night? Rainier just may be your gal! Rainier is a very energetic young teenager that wants a job and a family to be part of. She would probably love a brother Mal to exercise with too. Rainier does not want to be an outside dog, she loves time with the family inside and play time during the day. She is very well socialized, and is a big flirt with other dogs. With her striking good looks, she attracts attention wherever she goes, and the hiking trails would be a great place to show her off with a nice red doggie back pack. Rainier is housebroken and knows her basic commands. What a beauty!
Are you an active family that wants a dog that can keep up with your lifestyle? Don't miss out on Rainier. Please fill out an application and we will schedule your home visit as soon as possible.

Her name should be IsADORABLE. Because Nikki has the sweetest, cutest face you can imagine - this picture almost captures her sweetness. Almost.
Nikki is a very bouncy, happy, loving girl, found as a stray, who is far younger than we had originally thought. Tho she can be easy going and she has really excellent house manners she is also playful, can jump higher than she is tall, which aint very, and loves to walk. But not nearly as much as she loves being in the house. And again, except for counter cruising she has really excellent house manners. All our dogs love to be in the house but Nikki knows HOW to be a house dog.
Nikki is one of those little Tank-type mals. As she sheds her excess poundage, her agility and bounc is increasing; she already has more bounce-to-the-ounce than many young pups.
And if I were picking a family dog, looking for a Hearth-and-Home companion, Nikki is the one I would pick. Her size combined with her good manners put her near the top of the list.
Nikki is eager to please, eager to have fun and eager to love. Like most malamute females, she will not share with another girl but does pretty good in the yard with boy dogs as long where she does not have to share. She missed that sharing-stuff in kindergarten, apparently. But Nikki lives every day with a boy dog in her yard - sometimes Bolt, sometimes Max, sometimes others - and happily walks and sniffs with a boy dog as well.
If you would like to meet Nikki or any of the other Mals that are eagerly awaiting new homes for the New Year, please fill out an online application and we will schedule your home visit as soon as possible.
Nikki is being cared for in Cle Elum, WA.

She is a classic, gorgeous malamute and very much a typical mal - good with many male dogs but pretty sure she should be the queen of everything. She loves to play with toys and loves all people; she has a great deal of confidence and will love being introduced to new things. Mallie is active and strong but not hyper and this girl is smart as a whip.
Mallie has a beautiful woo-woo. You will love hearing her tell you just how happy you have made her. A coat just made for snow, a playful attitude in life and a dollop of malamute-stubborness that the smart ones all have. Mallie is a joy to watch and to be with. If you love malamutes, you will love this girl.
Mallie lives outside of Spokane.

Hello, my name is GUS. I am a malamute-siberian mix. I have my moms piercing, mesmerizing blue eyes and her long, soft, silky beautiful hair. I have my dads big muscular build, but his sweet, gentle disposition to go with it. They must have been a special couple!! I was chained up in a yard and forgotten, and since being in foster care for the last 3 months, my foster parents say I have worked through my trust issues, and realize life can be good again, and I want to share that with a new family. I just need to know you will be there for me, and I will be there for you 110 percent. I have excellent leash manners and love to go for walks, the pull and tug thing is for puppies. I like to lay by your feet when you sit in your favorite chair, OK, sometimes on your feet. If you change chairs, ditto!! I just want to be by my family. If you want some company in the car running errands, I am your guy!
I hope you have kids, because the two neighbor girls, 2 and 4, always have some food left between their fingers, I really like them, and when I take treats and you cant even tell I have any teeth. I can get along with other dogs, just introduce me slowly. My foster girlfriend is a drop-dead beautiful yellow lab, but I cant take her with me. I think my dad was a hunter, cuz I cant do the cat thing, or the squirrels, rabbits, birds, and small fast-movers must be prey!! I like sleeping on the deck at night or by your bedside if its raining.

Are you looking for a leonine love? This big boy, 138 pounds of big boy, is appropriately named Simba for his looks AND his demeanor. He will remind you of Simba in Disneys Lion King. He is great with older respectful children, as any good king should be, and if they are not to his liking he simply dismisses them - by walking away. Like many a fickle Malamute royal he may be particular about which other canines may attend court with him but he is quite amenable to his human subjects needs. With true courtly manners he will quickly adapt to your rhythms - if you are in a mellow, relaxed mood he will be, too. And if you are in a playful mood he is right there to join the fun.
Like many of the kingly-type, he needs gentle wooing to achieve best results. Training is best accomplished with slow, gentle handling and coaxing rather than stern forcefulness, so typical of kings! He is house-trained and can walk up a ramp to his throne in an SUV or truck. However, he really prefers not to go for rides - walks are far more to his liking.
Oh, and if you do not believe he has got a little feline in him, this boy loves to watch cats, and will even follow them and bounce and play with them if they allow it. We can not guarantee cat safety with a malamute but this boy shows the potential to live with them peacefully.
Simba has not had the best life so far. Prior to his last owner he was kept in a backyard full of muck and filth. As a result he his sensitive feet that need to be watched but that hasnt stopped him from hiking with his foster mom! He has a thyroid condition that is easily managed with meds and prefers a simple, strict canine diet. Simba currently has a summer shave to deal with some skin issues but his coat is growing back. What he really needs is someone to love and care for him in the manner befitting a royal! Do you have the special canine kingdom Simba is looking for? If so, please fill out an application and we will schedule a home visit right away.
Simba is being cared for in Shoreline, WA.

Call the Woo Woo police, we have a talker here! This fun young boy loves life and wants to tell you all about it. Wiley is loving, thinks he is a lap dog, loves to give sloppy kisses, snuggles, plays and is housebroken. He is happy and polite and he also knows some basic commands including sit and shake. He plays well with the other dog he currently lives with and although he has not been with cats in this home, he is said to have been good with them in a former home. He does well with the kids in his current home too. So why is he looking for a new home you might ask? Well Wiley is after all a Malamute and is not perfect. He does like to do some creative landscaping, and he likes to go visiting as often as possible. What Wiley needs besides a loving family is a secure fenced yard or kennel and someone who wont mind a little digging.
Have you given up your dreams of an English garden in favor of the love of a gorgeous Malamute? If so, please fill out our online application and we will schedule your home visit as soon as possible. Wiley is eager to meet you!

Sitka has lived with two young children before, but we would recommend a home with older children. She does not know her size and can knock small children over easily. Sitka has a VERY high prey drive and does not do well with small animals including cats or small dogs. She is used to being an only dog, and would love to go to a home where she can continue to be Mal queen of the household. She will need a very securely fenced yard as she likes to go wandering when given the opportunity.
Are you Sitkas lucky new owner? If you would like to meet Sitka or any of the other wonderful Mals shown here, please fill out an application and we will schedule your home visit as soon as possible.
Sitka is being cared for in Spokane, WA.

Just when you thought there was nothing more fun than Wham-os Superball WAMAL has something even better. Ever heard of a bouncing snowball? Yep, a bouncing ball o white fur that is strong, fast and much more lovable than a piece of rubber! Meet Annie, the all white, probably purebred, malamute bundle of energy. This young girl is athletic and energetic. Her family moved and were unable to take her with them. Shes looking for a new family that can help her expend some of her energy with consistent runs, long walks, hikes, she loves to explore, and, of course being the snowball she is, winter sports. Ski-jouring would likely be a blast with her. She is well-mannered and not only knows most of her commands but this model of snowball even listens to them, at least after a little energy has been expended! And better yet, her loving matches her energy level. She is definitely very people-friendly, is believed to be cat-friendly, and may be dog-friendly with a little more training. Unlike most mals she will fetch and actually RETURN a ball as she loves to play. Every time this very sweet snowball smiles at you she will melt your heart.
If you would like to meet this lovebug please submit an application and we will get your home visit done right away.
Annie is being cared for in Kent, WA.

Kokanee is a river in Alaska. Some us of didnt realize it was also a beer. So now we have a beautiful WAMAL boy who answers to either Kokanee or Hey Beer Dog!
And he is beautiful and so very very sweet. He is excellent in the house, knows some commands - sit and even lay down! - and has a gorgeous snow coat - could use some brushing as he is heading into a pre-winter shed.
Cats are not safe around him but he seems really good with other dogs. He will react if attacked but tries his level best to avoid conflict. He just wants to be loved and to play and to go on walks - and to join you in the house!
This poor guy was let loose in the country, was hungry, went looking for food and ended up shot in the face and is missing some teeth so sometimes one side of his lip gets kinda stuck. It is pretty comical.
Whenever a human comes around and pays him attention, he wants to play and play. Or go for walks. He has climbed a 4 foot gate but not to run away - only to get closer to the house! What a complete sweetie and what a fantastic companion he will make.

URGENT!
Cute as a button, this Mal-Husky mix boy has been languishing in a shelter for over 2 months while he patiently waits for his new home. Now his time has run out at the crowded shelter and he needs to go home for the holidays. Gable was brought to the shelter when his owners could no longer care for him. He is a strapping boy, big and goofy, playful, sweet and active. Gable loves a good adventure and would make an excellent addition to a loving family. Because of his exuberance, Gable is not a candidate for a home with young kids. If you are looking for a handsome man who will capture your heart then Izzy is your guy. Izzy is mellow and loves attention. He will sleep at your feet or crawl into your lap if you let him. He has great leash manners and loves to go on walks. He has been around cats and shows no interest in his foster moms four cats! Izzy is great with other dogs and just adores his sister Jessie. A whole new world has opened up to Izzy in his new foster home. He started out hiking once a week, now goes hiking up to three times a week and is a real trooper. Izz has a blast in the snow. He is just adorable - rolls all over in the stuff like its gold.

Kenya and Sherakai came into rescue together, strays from a shelter after being picked up by animal control. Hard to believe they got loose - these are not running mates, more like couch-potato-mates. Kenya and Sherakai were said to be a bonded pair. Foster mom does not believe they are and is separating them when possible to check their reactions. More on that as we learn.
Although they find the soft beds in the walk-in dog houses to be irresistible, Sherakai also loves to amble around the yard sniffing gopher holes and interpreting the rich doggie smells of a large, long-standing foster dog yard.
Sherakai and Kenya were lightly cat-tested at the shelter and completely ignored both the caged cats and the loose, resident kitty. Not a guarantee of cat-safe-ness but a good indicator of a dog who might work in a home with a cat or two.
But what Sherakai really needs is a easygoing, calm home with patient caring owners. She is hand-shy and leery of being petted. But on the other hand, her face lights whenever another dog is being petted and she walks right up to join us with a big smile on her face. Time and patience and a calm environment will be the key here.
Sherakai is a Golden Years female and may have had years of poor treatment to unlearn. She is not terrified or defensive. She just seems to not know that it feels good to be loved.
Sherakai is enjoying her stay in Cle Elum foster care.

Whisper is about 3 and a Siberian-Mal mix who definitely leans toward the Siberian side of her makeup. Whisper, initially painfully shy, now spends most of her time in the living room with the gang. She and her foster moms Black Russian Terrier have a nightly wrestling match that leaves your side aching from laughter! She still is not a cuddle bug, but is dashing away less and less when approached with the back of your hand extended. She has also become quite the treat girl and has taken to jumping up on the bed to lay close to her Foster mom, do not reach to touch her though, she is gone in a flash. She has been tested with cats and tolerates them. She needs to go to a home with another dog as she bonds easier to dogs than to humans. With every passing day she continues to slowly come out of her shell.
An absolutely secure fenced yard STILL is a must, not an option, as if she runs you will NEVER catch her.
Whisper is being cared for in Puyallup, WA.

Stormy is a very shy, very young boy who is in great need of some human interaction and TLC. This handsome boys rough start in life so far has mainly consisted of hanging out with other dogs which makes him a great candidate for a home with one or more other canine playmates. Stormy is not a candidate for a home with children as he is just getting used to humans for the first time and is still a little tense about being handled. He doesnt even seem to know what petting is. As soon as Stormy learns what love is though, watch out! He is ready to play, hike, run and enjoy the life a dog is supposed to enjoy. Stormy has a beautiful coat, his photos do not do him justice. He is waiting for an experienced Malamute home with a lot of patience and a secure 6 ft fenced yard. Stormy has no training yet and is not housebroken, but does know how to use a doggy door, so house training should be fairly simple.
Are you an experienced, active owner who has the patience to teach Stormy that life can be awesome? Please fill out our application and we will schedule your home visit asap.

When you think Malamute, do you think Exuberant? Goofy? Happy-go-Lucky? LOVES her humans? Flops down for belly rubs? Yep! That is Nikita.
Nikita is a full size malamute with all of the energy of a big puppy - but surprisingly easy to walk and incredibly lovable cuddle-able. She is totally people oriented and trusting - you can do anything with her. People are fun! People are great! People give you food! And Pets! They brush you! And take you out to fun places! Swimming is fun! Walks are fun! I will roll over for pets - ok ok!
And she can bowl you over as well, if you rough-house with her. People can do anything with this girl - she is completely submissive with people of all ages, including children. If you fuss at her, she flops over on her back. But she also loves to pretend to run full-tilt at you in play, and may alarm your children. Older kids might be best simply because of her strength and exuberance.
However Nikita is more than ready to be taught some new manners - she wants very much to know what she is supposed to do. She sits for food, takes treats gently. And then --Ohboy.ohboy.ohboy - she forgets everything and body-slams you cause she is SURE that you are trying to play! She is SO much fun.
So whats the catch? Well, Nikitas secret name (Every malamute has a secret name, it is up to you to discover it) is Miss Jealous Heart. Because Nikita is jealous of any dog who might take peoples attention away from her. She has been best-buds only with Matt Dillon who she can sit on. But even with him, she would prefer to have ALL of the people for her own self. Good news about that? You will never have to shell out for Doggie Daycare. She does not nee - or want - canine companionship. She only needs you. If you love Alaskan Malamutes, you will adore this dog.
