Washington Alaskan Malamute Adoption League
Initial Inquiry Form

---------------------------

Thank you for your interest in WAMAL and in adopting an Alaskan Malamute.

The "cost" of adoption usually runs $250 in which case the dogs are altered and up to date on inoculations. How the adoption payment works is that we ask for a minimum donation of $250 to help us defer our costs for rescue. As $250 rarely covers the money spent for rescue for each Malamute, people are encouraged to donate more (any amount donated is tax deductible as we are a 501(c)3 federal charity) if they can. Every nickle donated allows us to save that many more Malamutes in need. It is only through donations that we can manage to fund our rescue work and without these donations we would not be able to save the Washington State Malamutes in need, like the very Malamute(s) you are hoping to adopt from us now by filling out this application!

Some dogs, although listed through us, are still residing with their owners. In those cases we act as a referral only. If we are successful in referring a dog, we do not require, but would appreciate, a donation to WAMAL.

Please be patient. Someone will respond to your application as soon as a volunteer has been found to make a home visit. This may take a week or more. If you do not hear from us or from one of our volunteers within a week or two, please contact us.

If you do not hear from someone within a week, please contact WAMAL at click here to send WAMAL email but please be aware that volunteers at times take a while to arrange.

If you are not from WA State, please get in touch with your local rescue representative. WAMAL assists with adoptions in surrounding states, such as Idaho or Oregon, (and rarely into Montana and California) but much farther than that presents far too many difficulties -- all of which would need to be coordinated by the local rescue representative anyway.

For applicants in Canada, please understand that it is very difficult for us to adopt to you and thus will most likely have to refer you directly to Canadian rescues. There are several reasons for this:
- Our inability to retrieve the dog should the adoption not work out
- The unfairness of depriving a dog in Canada of a loving home because we have sent a Wamal dog to his/her potential adopter
- The additional burden that cross border adoptions place on already overworked and overwhelmed rescue volunteers.

In order to best serve you and to ensure a good match between your family and an available dog, please respond with the following information. (All information supplied, including email address, will be kept strictly confidential.)
Field names in red are required.

WAMAL needs a valid email address to send you confirmation of your application as well as to assist you with your search. Email addresses are used solely for Malamute Rescue and are kept in the most strict of confidence. Please provide your email address in a form of:
{Username}@{domainname}.{domain type} Example: foo@foo.com
Please do not paste in a web URL as this will not work.
If you do not have email access, you can enter N/A but please be aware that rescue or adoption might take a lot longer and is far more difficult to arrange as the majority of all communications will be via email as rescue work often occurs at odd hours of the day and night when our volunteers are available.
