Young, energetic, friendly, and beautiful. If these are the characteristics you are looking for, Tarzan is your boy! Full of energy and in the prime of his life Tarzan would just as soon play with you as go on hikes through the forest, pull your sled through the snow, or participate in the numerous other winter activities Washington has to offer. Tarzan is one dog who has never met a stranger and will most likely give you a big kiss the first time he sees you. With his unique markings and beautiful eyes, Tarzan is one striking young malamute that you shouldnt pass up. Due to his size and energy Tarzan might do best in a more active home with lots of room to play. That said, he does not challenge the 6 ft fence at his foster home and does settle rather quickly, knowing when playtime is over that it is time to settle down. He loves to rest his head on your lap and have his ears scratched, or long strokes down his back. He loves loving! Tarzan is a big eater and gets very excited at meal times. He thinks cats are part of his eating plan, so no cats for Tarzan please.
If you would like to be the lucky new forever home for Tarzan, please fill out an online application and we will schedule your home visit asap.
Tarzan is being cared for in Goldendale, WA but can meet you in the Seattle area if necessary.

Think Thelma and Louise, Cagney and Lacey, Wilma and Betty, Kate and Allie! Rosie is one half of a female dynamic duo mother, daughter team that just came into rescue as a bonded pair. They are double the fun with half the trouble. Rosie is a very sweet, very adorable girl with what will be a big woolly coat once it grows back. She has been shaved in the past so its only half as gorgeous as it will be! They are both getting a bath this week and will be looking for a new home as soon as possible. Both girls are a tad shy right now, but get along great with kids and all humans alike. They are not used to riding in cars or walks on leashes, but a few trips to somewhere fun will take care of that problem in a Mal-Minute. They will need a securely fenced yard as both girls like a good neighborhood adventure if given the opportunity.
Are you looking for two Mals that already love each other and keep each other occupied while you are out earning dog food money? These are the girls for you! Please fill out our online application and we will schedule your home visit as soon as possible.
Rosie and Skamper are being cared for in Kent, WA.

Think Thelma and Louise, Cagney and Lacey, Wilma and Betty, Kate and Allie! Skamper is one half of a female dynamic duo mother, daughter team that just came into rescue as a bonded pair. They are double the fun with half the trouble. Skampers dad was a Siberian Husky and Rosie the Malamute is her mom. She has a very pretty and easy to care for coat too. She is on antibiotics right now for a few lick spots probably caused by stress and boredom, but we expect her to heal quickly and once in a new forever home she should not have this problem. Both girls are getting a bath this week and will be looking for a new home as soon as possible. Like Rosie, Skamper is a tad shy right now, but gets along great with kids and all humans alike. They are not used to riding in cars or walks on leashes, but a few trips to somewhere fun will take care of that problem in a Mal-Minute. They will need a securely fenced yard as both girls like a good neighborhood adventure if given the opportunity.

Sasha is a very pretty, young girl with long legs that will let her run like the wind and climb like a billy goat for hikers! She is tall and lean and loves being both indoors and out. Sasha is housebroken and a very fast learner. She knows her basic commands including sit, down, drop it and the Malamute stay. She has been calm in her new foster home and is interested in the other dogs, but hasnt had a chance to play with them yet. She has also been challenged by the cat and she backed off. Sasha was dropped off at the shelter after getting in a dog fight and sustaining some injuries. She is healing quickly though, and will be ready for her new forever home in no time. She loves laying by your feet while watching TV after a nice long walk.
If you are interested in meeting Sasha, please fill out an online application and we will schedule your home visit as soon as possible.
Sasha is recovering and being lovingly cared for in Seattle, WA.

When I see Juno, what comes to mind is the lyrics from the Antiskeptic song Beautiful in White. To feel alright, broken, restless, tired, the fear of flight. Have I told you that youre Beautiful in White? Juno, formerly known as Yo Yo, has spent his life in the back yard of a restaurant and is very shy around humans right now. So shy that the shelter thought there was no option to adopt him out, so he was going to be euthanized. We pulled him and have had several volunteers working with him. Juno has a very sweet face and a gorgeous coat. He takes treats very gently, and even planted a kiss on one of our volunteers the other day. Juno seems to be much more comfortable around humans if he is with one or two of his own kind. He gets along well with other dogs and does well on a leash and is much more open to being petted when out on walks with other dogs. He is looking for a family with patience and a lot of love to share. We think when he comes around he will make a great walking and hiking companion for a medium activity family. Juno is in an experienced foster home and will soon be tested with cats. We have no history on how he is with kids yet. We do know he can scale a 6 ft fence, so will need a securely fenced yard possibly with a hot wire on top.
If you think this handsome white boy is the one for you, please fill out our online application and we will schedule your home visit asap.
Juno is being cared for in Shoreline, WA.

Sage is a BIG, loving, sweet and playful girl who loves people and is glad to be out of the shelter and into a foster home with 4 other dogs who she plays really well with. She does not bark, but loves to howl to greet you. Sage walks well on the leash without much pulling, and loves to go for car rides.
If you would like to meet Sage, or any of the other beautiful Malamutes shown here, please fill out an application and we will schedule your home visit as soon as possible.
Sage is being lovingly fostered in Lakewood, WA.

Spunky got her name for a reason! She loves to play with other dogs, male or female. Her first contact with humans was with catch poles and a small crate, so she is a happy girl as long as no one looks like they are going to catch her. Spunky has come a long way since being rescued from a breeding operation last fall, and by living in a great foster home, she is learning to trust humans and is now ready to find her new forever home. She has some great basic manners such as sitting for treats, and walking great on a leash, and is housetrained. She will need at least one other dog to play with to get her used to her new home. You will need to be patient with this beautiful girl until she gets used to you, then you better watch out for a lifetime of love and play! Spunky is a cheap date who loves nothing more for toys than an empty Kleenex box or some cardboard to run around the yard and play keep away with.
Are you the person who will show Spunky how to continue loving life? She is waiting for you! Please fill out our application and we will schedule your home visit as soon as possible.

Sweet, sweet Callah, with her cute floppy ears and soft coat, is about as close as they come to a perfect Malamute. She is a little on the small side and has an absolutely great personality as well as perfect doggie manners. She is so full of love and smiles that you cant help but be happy around her. She plays fetch and loves to bring the ball back to you, stopping just long enough to give you a huge sloppy kiss. She is great on leash and comes when you call her. She loves her hugs and all the love you can give her, she just soaks it all up. She has the perfect amount of energy and a great temperament, not too hyper and not too laid back. From what we can tell so far Callah seems to like other dogs, and we will be testing her for her reaction to cats in the next week or so. She is great on leash and loves car rides too. From what we can tell she will be great with kids.
We think Callah will be adopted in a Mal Minute, so if you are interested in her please fill out our online application and we will schedule your home visit asap.
Callah is being cared for in Kent, WA.

Oh Grandma, what big ears you have! Young Glaciers mom was a Malamute and dad was a German Shepherd but he looks mostly Mal to us. This very shy boy does not want to be left alone outside and does really well with other dogs of all ages and sexes. He has also lived with kids and cats. We have pulled him from the shelter where he was very scared, but in the same kennel as five other dogs. When we visited him there he was nervous, but did come over for some petting and scratching from our volunteer. We are hoping that he will come around fairly quickly in his new foster home through interaction with other dogs and cats as well as some intense snowshoeing activity and plenty of loving. We will update his bio once we know more about any training he might have and if he is housebroken. He would most likely do best in a quiet but fairly active home where he is allowed to get used to his new family slowly.
Can you turn his frown upside down? Please fill out our online application and we will schedule your home visit asap so you can meet Glacier.
Glacier is being cared for in Shoreline, WA.

Athena is a gorgeous young girl who wants to be your only girl! She loves her family and kids of all ages and is a total cuddler, but doesnt get along with cats and most other dogs, although a male Mal of her size may just work. Athenas former owner describes her as gentle, loving, loyal, sweet and a very free spirit. She is housebroken and spends time inside as well as outside, but loves to sleep indoors at night. She loves going for walks or runs and we are working on her leash manners now. Athena knows all her basic commands such as sit, lay down and shake as well as the Malamute come where she runs up to you, teases you, then runs off again. She is perfect for a family that is familiar with female Mal behavior, and has lots of love to share.
If you would like to meet Athena or any of the other beautiful dogs you see here, please fill out an online application and we will schedule your home visit asap.
Athena is being cared for in Kent, WA.

Look into those Angel eyes. We have named this pretty girl after the Archangel Ariel, Lioness of God. Ariel is feeling very sad right now as she has spent several weeks in a shelter waiting to be adopted. She is ready to be moved now and find a loving family that will teach her that humans can be kind. Ariel is said to be very sweet and somewhat shy. She does not care for other female dogs, but we are as yet unsure how she is with males, kids or cats. Once she is transported from Spokane to Kent we will have a much better idea of her personality, and will add her info here. Right now we are looking for a foster home for her on the west side of the mountains.
Can you offer Ariel a foster or permanent home? Please contact wamal@wamal.com if you are already an approved foster, or fill out an online application and we will schedule your home visit asap.
Ariel is currently located in Ponderay, ID and will be transported to Kent on Thursday Jan 28th

Check out this hiking, snowshoeing, dog loving boy. Timi is a little people shy, but is in a foster home where he has been interacting with strangers on hikes on a regular basis and seems to be coming around quickly. He is being introduced to new dogs, new people and new situations. Once scared of men, he is now accepting pats from men. He is getting along great with the two other Mals in his foster home, and is learning basic Mal manners as well. Timi loves car rides and ice cream cones too! He is becoming a self-assured little pup with a great personality shining through. Timi will need a securely fenced yard as he is young and very active.
If you are looking for the perfect running, hiking or snow play partner, please consider Timi as your new best friend. Fill out our online application and we will schedule your home visit asap.
Timi is being lovingly cared for in Shoreline, WA.

Cool Hand Luke made two things crystal clear right away. He loves people and he hates being alone in the kennel. Sooo, then we learned that he can get along with other dogs, because he opened that pesky kennel so he could play with the 2 malamutes in the Big Yard. No fights, just happy campers. Luke would do best with a playmate his own size.
Open a car door and he heads right for it - people is where it is at for Cool Hand Luke. When Luke went down to the vets office for his little procedure he easily put his front paws on the chest high counter in order to greet all the wonderful people on the other side. After that he showed his manners by stepping nicely onto the scales and sitting!
For such a young dog, he is remarkably laid back. He walks very well on leash, mostly leaving some slack. But the scent or sight of wildlife can really get him excited. He will not be a candidate for a home with cats. He sits, he comes, and picked up lie down after a couple of tries, he is so very smart and willing. Luke is bullet proof house trained and knows how to use a doggy door.
Luke loves riding in a car and quietly takes his place behind the front seats. He recently went to a meeting and after greeting a couple of people gently he just lay down and relaxed for the following two hours. He is totally as delightful as his pictures.
Luke is being cared for in Spokane.

Kenya came into rescue as a stray from a shelter after being picked up by animal control. Although he finds the soft pads in the walk in dog house to be irresistible, Kenya also loves to play with humans and enjoys other dogs as well. And this big boy is a dream to walk. He enjoys walking, trots along and is very easy to manage.
Kenya is a big boy, sturdy and very tall, but does not throw his weight around. Clearly not a young dog, he seems far younger than the original shelter estimate. He loves being petted, does the malamute lean, and will bounce around the yard in play any time you invite him to do so. He is not pushy, Kenya is very polite, but he is always ready for play. And just loves being gently teased and teasing in return. Kenya has a terrific coat for winter activity and big snowshoe feet.
If you would like to meet Kenya, or any of the other Malamutes you see here, please fill out an online application and we will schedule your home visit asap.
Kenya is being fostered in Snoqualmie, WA.

Timber has very handsome facial markings, and is just so darn cute and loving. He has had an interesting start in life by living in a two bedroom apartment with five kids! So we know hes good with kids and most likely housebroken. He keeps escaping when the kids open the door though, probably due to boredom and the need for exercise. He will need a securely fenced yard and may love a dog buddy to horse around with during the day. He rides well in the car and is ready to learn some basic manners at your local obedience class. Timber would probably love an active family that can give him the regular exercise a young boy like him needs. Keep an eye on the site because we will have much better photos of Timber in the next few days, as well as a little more information on his personality.
Timber is looking for a forever home where he can run and run and play. If you can offer this home to Timber, please fill out our online application and we will schedule your home visit asap. If you are interested in fostering him while we look for his forever home, please contact us asap. Right now he is in a boarding kennel recharging his batteries! Not the best place for his pent up energy.
Timber is located in Kent, WA.

Max is doing well in his new foster home, he has made friends with foster brother Scooby and all the kids. He has excellent house manners! Stays off furniture, doesnt beg, asks to go out, no pacing or worrying. He will cruise the counters though, but no more than any dog will. He also has an beautiful quiet inside woo, and is learning to ride in the car quickly (he has discovered his foster parents and foster brother Scoobys morning visits to the mocha stand where they give out cookies and ear scratches). He now jumps into the truck to go for a ride. He has some fear of adults, but there has already been an improvement. Oddly enough, he is not afraid of teens and 20ish folks, only older people. Max is getting used to leashes, and once on leash walks really well for a young exhuberent boy. He has become the jogging partner for the 16 year old in his foster family. He is a really great dog, and a great family dog. He will do better in a smaller family that is willing to work with him and give him the love, attention and exercise he needs. It will only be a matter of time and positive experiences for him to be great. Max is definately interested in cats, so definately no cats for him, but he would most likely like a fur brother to play with.
Dont miss out on this great boy! If you think Max is the ONE for you, please fill out an application and we will schedule your home visit as soon as possible.
Max is being lovingly cared for in Goldendale, WA, but arrangements can be made to meet him in the Seattle area.

Si has been diagnosed with and immune mediated disorder which causes him to have severe eye issues, such as swelling, inflammation and discomfort. He has responded well to medications and returns to normal. What cause these flair ups is truly not know but is likely linked to vaccinations so it has been recommended that future vaccinations be avoided. Instead of vaccinations your veterinarian can have titers (a blood test) to check his level of protection. Si also has trouble swallowing some types of food and is currently being fed a home cooked diet.
Si has never met a person or creature he didnt like, he loves everyone. He has grown up with two cats and a baby in the house. If you think Si sounds like the perfect addition to your family, please fill out our online application and we will schedule your home visit as soon as possible.
Si is being lovingly cared for in Redmond, WA.
