DAKOTA and NICOLE are a pair of bonded Irish Wolfhound-Malamute mixes. When they first came into rescue they were a little standoffish but have since become the sweetest girls in the neighborhood. They came in with limited vet history or much regular health care in their previous home and unfortunately have severe allergies and had to have a couple teeth removed.
Dakota ended up being able to keep a lower canine so is able to carry around stuffies and toys, her favorite past time. Nicole unfortunately had more severe rot and lost a few back teeth in addition to her two lower canine’s but that hasn’t slowed her down.
Currently they are both undergoing allergy treatments as advised by Dermatology Clinic for Animals in Lacey, WA. While their scratching has improved greatly since they went on flea meds and received cytopoint shots, we are still working on improving their overall skin condition. Both girls are currently on a prescription diet to rule out food allergies, and are receiving weekly baths and a daily 15 minute mousse.
They are currently with an amazing foster to confirm the diet and bathing is followed for 8 weeks, but would love a longer term foster or adopter!
